MegaTank
The Canon MegaTank Series is a refillable ink tank printer built for people who print a lot and are tired of buying cartridges. Instead of replaceable cartridges, it uses front-facing ink tanks that you top up from bottles, delivering thousands of pages per fill at a fraction of the cost per page. Depending on the model, it prints, copies, scans, and faxes, with a clear window on the front so you can see ink levels at a glance. Most MegaTank models include Wi-Fi, with USB on every model and Ethernet on select higher-end units. It suits home offices, students, classrooms, and busy households that print in volume and want the running costs to stay low.

Troubleshooting Steps
Issue: Prints are faded, streaky, or have missing colours
- Check the ink tank windows on the front and refill any tank sitting below the lower line
- Run the print head cleaning utility from the printer menu or Canon software
- Run a deep cleaning if a standard clean doesn't fix it, then print a nozzle check pattern to confirm
- Avoid letting tanks run completely dry, since this is the most common cause of clogged nozzles on tank printers
Issue: Printer won't connect to Wi-Fi
- Confirm the printer and your device are on the same 2.4GHz network, since many MegaTank models don't support 5GHz
- Move the printer closer to the router or reduce obstructions
- Re-run the wireless setup from the control panel, or use the WPS button on your router
- Use the Canon PRINT app for a guided cableless setup if the control panel process keeps failing
Issue: Printer shows as offline
- Confirm the printer is powered on and still connected to your network
- Remove and re-add the printer in your operating system's printer settings
- Restart the printer and router if the connection keeps dropping
Issue: "Maintenance cartridge full" message
- Replace the maintenance cartridge, which is user-replaceable on MegaTank models
- Order the correct maintenance cartridge for your exact model, since part numbers differ across the range
- Don't attempt to reset or reuse a full cartridge, as it collects waste ink and can leak
Issue: Ink levels look wrong or the printer says a tank is empty when it isn't
- Check the physical tank windows rather than relying on the on-screen estimate, since MegaTank models estimate levels rather than measure them
- Reset the ink level counter from the printer menu after refilling a tank
- Refill to the upper line, not past it, to avoid overflow
Issue: Paper jams or misfeeds
- Fan the paper stack before loading and don't overfill past the maximum line
- Confirm paper guides match the loaded paper size
- Turn the printer off before removing jammed paper, pulling it slowly in the feed direction
