Canon Error Code #001
A page you were copying, scanning or faxing got stuck in the document feeder on top of the machine. It's a paper jam, not a breakdown — you clear the page, reload your stack, and carry on. Affected models: Canon multifunction machines with a document feeder on top — imageCLASS (MF series), i-SENSYS and imageRUNNER. If your printer is a home PIXMA inkjet, you won't see this code; those use four-digit support codes like 1300 instead.
003Canon Error Code #003
A fax took too long, or was simply too big, to get through — so the machine gave up partway. Nothing is broken. You send it again in smaller pieces, or at a lower quality setting, and it goes.
005Canon Error Code 005
Your fax didn't go through because the machine at the other end never picked up. Nothing is broken on your printer — this is a message about the receiving end.
012Canon Error Code 012
Your fax reached the other machine, but that machine has run out of paper, so it refused the document. The fix is on their end, not yours.
018Canon Error Code 018
Your printer tried the number, got a busy signal or dead silence, tried again automatically, and still got nowhere. On the printed report it's usually labelled "Busy/No Signal".
019Canon Error Code 019
Your fax was sent through another Canon machine acting as a shared fax server, and that machine ran out of memory before it could take your document.
022Canon Error Code 022
Either faxing from your computer has been switched off on the printer, or the address you were sending to no longer exists in the address book. Two unrelated problems share this one code.
025Canon Error Code 025
Your machine tried to fax down a phone line that doesn't exist on the shared fax machine it sends through. It's a settings mismatch between two machines, not a fault in either one.
