Unboxing & Initial Setup

Step 1 of 5 Take printer out

Open the box fully and lift the printer upward with support from both sides.

Remove all packaging materials and protective tape from the printer.
Open the ink tank covers and fill the GI-790 bottles (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) into their respective tanks.
Place plain A4 paper into the rear paper tray and adjust the paper guides.
Connect the power cord and press the power button.

Plug the printer into your Windows PC using the provided USB cable.
Download drivers from the bottom of the page
Run the downloaded setup file and follow the installation instructions.
Complete the setup wizard, allowing it to detect and configure the printer.
Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on G2012, and select “Print Test Page” to verify setup.

What should I do if my printer driver installation fails?

If the Driver installation fails, you will need to check the Operating system properly. Sometimes the 32 Bit OS does not support the 64 Bit OS Driver. Though the Operating system is detected by the Canon website automatically, you will still need to be sure.

This usually happens when the WiFi settings that you are trying to connect to are either wrong or the WiFi is not working. It can Also happen if the WiFi signal Strength is not good.
