Requirements & Prerequisite

Gather the following items before you begin setup. Tick each one as you get it.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

Step 1 of 5 Take printer out

Open the box fully and lift the printer upward with support from both sides.

  1. Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
  2. Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
  3. Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
  4. Install the ink cartridges
  5. Load paper into the paper tray

Canon TS8170 setup on Windows

Setting up Guide for Windows:

1.Download and Install the Software

Download Drivers and Software

 Click Setup > Enter TS8170 >Click Start

 Select your Windows version (it usually detects automatically)

 Download the Full Driver & Software Package

2.Connecting the Printer to Wi-Fi

a.During software installation:

b. Choose Wireless LAN Connection

c. If the printer isn’t connected, press Home > Wi-Fi icon > LAN Settings >Wireless LAN Setup

d. Select your Wi-Fi network, enter the password

3.Completing Installation on Windows

a.Run the downloaded setup file

b. Follow instructions for detecting the printer

c. Choose the connection method (Wi-Fi or USB)

d. Complete the driver installation

e. Print a test page to confirm setup

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1. Printer Not Turning On
  2. Check power cable connection
  3. Try a different power outlet
  4. Hold power button for 3 seconds
  5. 2. Wi-Fi & Connectivity Issues
  6. Printer Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
  7. Run Easy Wireless Connect on printer:
  8. Tap Setup >Wi-Fi Setup > Easy Wireless Connect > Yes
  9. Ensure correct Wi-Fi password
  10. Place printer near router
  11. Restart router and printer
  12. 3. Printer Disappears from Device List
  13. Confirm printer and device are on same Wi-Fi
  14. Restart both devices
  15. Re-add printer manually if needed
  16. Mac Troubleshooting
  17. 4. Printer Not Showing on Mac
  18. System Settings > Printers & Scanners >Remove and re-add printer
  19. Prefer Secure AirPrint driver when adding
  20. Reset printing system if persistent:
  21. Right-click printer list > Reset Printing System

  24. Confirm printer is in Easy Wireless Connect mode
  25. Both phone and printer must be on same Wi-Fi
  26. Reboot devices

  29. Confirm both devices are on same Wi-Fi
  30. Restart devices
  31. Re-add printer under Share → Print → Select Printer

  34. Go to Settings >Printers >Add Printer
  35. Enter printer’s IP manually (from printer’s Wi-Fi Info)
  36. Use IPP protocol and queue: ipp/print

  40. Cancel all pending print jobs
  41. Power cycle printer
