Canon PIXMA MX892 is a fully integrated printer for rapid document copying, scanning and faxing. With Canon EOS Digital SLR or PowerShot cameras it turns your favorite HD movie clips into beautiful prints. Canon PIXMA MX892 has a dual function panel feature provides useful function buttons that transform into a keypad in fax mode for easier operation.

Requirements & Prerequisite

Gather the following items before you begin setup. Tick each one as you get it.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

Step 1 of 5 Take printer out

Open the box fully and lift the printer upward with support from both sides.

  1. Take the printer out of the box.
  2. Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
  3. Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
  4. Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
  5. Install the toner cartridges.
  6. Load paper into the paper trays.

Setting Up Canon PIXMA MX892 on Windows:

Note: Ensure your Windows PC is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you intend to connect the printer to.

  • Download the Setup Software:
    • Driver Downloads are available in the Bottom of the page.
    • Under the Drivers & Downloads section, select your Windows version and download the appropriate driver.
  • Run the Setup File:
    • Locate the downloaded file and double-click to run it.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to begin the installation.
  • Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi:
    • When prompted, select “Wireless LAN Connection” as the connection method.
    • Choose “Standard setup” and follow the instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Complete the Installation:
    • Once connected, the software will install the necessary drivers.
    • After installation, print a test page to confirm successful setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Printer not connecting to wi-fi:
    • Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
      • Place the printer close to the router
      • Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
      • Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
      • Restart the router and printer
      • Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
  2. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
      • Restart your printer and device
      • Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
      • For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
      • On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
  3. Paper Jam:
    • Solutions:
      • Turn off the printer
      • Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
      • Check for torn paper pieces
      • Restart the printer
  4. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors):
    • Solution:
      • Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
      • Run Print Head Cleaning:
      • Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
      • Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
      • Ensure you’re using compatible paper
