The Canon PIXMA MG2540S is a budget-friendly all-in-one inkjet printer that supports USB connectivity for printing, scanning, and copying. Unlike wireless models, the MG2540S does not support Wi-Fi or mobile printing, meaning it requires a USB connection to work with Windows and Mac computers. However, iOS, Android, and Chromebook users can print using Google Cloud Print alternatives or print via a connected PC.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

Step 1 of 5 Take printer out

Open the box fully and lift the printer upward with support from both sides.

  1. Take the printer out of the box.
  2. Remove all packaging materials from the printer.
  3. Install the ink cartridges and load paper into the tray.
  4. Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.

How to Set Up Canon MG2540S on Windows

Step 1: Download and Install Printer Drivers

  1. Driver Download Links are in the bottom of the page.
  2. Download the latest Windows drivers and software.
  3. Run the setup file and follow the installation instructions.

Step 2: Connect the Printer to Windows

  1. Use a USB cable to connect the Canon MG2540S to your PC.
  2. Windows should detect the printer automatically.
  3. If prompted, complete the installation through the Setup Wizard.

Step 3: Set as Default Printer

  1. Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click on Canon MG2540S, then select Set as Default Printer.

Your Canon MG2540S is now ready to print from Windows!
