Printer shows as offline
1. Check that the printer is on and connected to the same network as your computer. Remove it and re-add it in your OS's printer settings. If it still won't hold a connection, restart the printer and the router.
Printer keeps dropping off Wi-Fi
1. Move the printer closer to the router, or clear away anything blocking the signal between them. Check it isn't in a power-saving mode that turns off the Wi-Fi radio. If it keeps failing, re-run the wireless setup from the touchscreen.
Paper jams
1. Turn the printer off before you clear a jam. Pull the paper out slowly, in the direction it was already feeding, not against it. Fan the paper stack before loading it, and don't overfill the tray.
Print quality is faded or streaky
1. Check the toner level and swap the cartridge if it's low. Run the cleaning utility from the printer's software. Make sure the paper type setting matches what you actually loaded.
Driver won't install, or the printer isn't detected during setup
1. Get the driver straight from Canon's official i-SENSYS support page for your exact model. Antivirus or firewall software sometimes blocks the installer, so try disabling it temporarily. Make sure the printer is on and on the network before you run the installer.
