Requirements & Prerequisite

Gather the following items before you begin setup. Tick each one as you get it.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

Step 1 of 5 Take printer out

Open the box fully and lift the printer upward with support from both sides.

  1. Carefully remove the Canon GX5500 from its packaging and take out all protective materials.
  2. Open the printer’s front cover and insert the ink tanks into their designated slots. Ensure they fit securely.
  3. Adjust the paper guides in the rear tray to the appropriate size and load the paper into the tray.
  4. Connect the printer to a power outlet and press the power button to turn it on.

Canon GX5500 setup on Windows

Setting up Canon MAXIFY GX5500 Windows (Wi-fi):

  1. Download the Drivers:

a. Download and install the driver.

b. Once the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.

2. Connect the wi-fi to the printer:

a. Press ok when the display shows Wifi setup.

b. Scroll ahead and click on the manual connect.

c. Now scroll forward to choose a wireless network.

d. Now select your network.

e. Enter the password.

f. Click on the settings icon and it will take you to the main screen displaying ready to print.

3. Print the Test page:

a. Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Setting up Canon MAXIFY GX5500 on Windows (USB):

  1. Download the Drivers:

a. Download and install the driver.

b. Once the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.

2. Connect the printer with USB cable:

a. Plug the one end of the cable to the printer and one end to your PC.

b. Now go to the settings.

c. Click on bluetooth and devices.

d. Now click on Printers and Scanners.

e. From the available printers list select your Canon MAXIFY GX5500.

3. Print the Test page:

a. Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check the power:
  2. Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected.
  3. Check the cartridges:
  4. Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. Also, ensure that there is enough ink.
  5. Check paper:
  6. If the papers are not arranged correctly, take them out of the paper tray and straighten them up. Make sure that the paper tray is not jammed. You can now shut off the paper tray.
  7. Check Wi-Fi Connection:
  8. Ensure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
  9. Make sure that the WIFI connection is stable.
  10. Update the Driver:
  11. Outdated drivers may cause problems.
  12. Check for the latest driver updates for your printer model.
  13. Download and install the updated driver.
