Requirements & Prerequisite

Gather the following items before you begin setup. Tick each one as you get it.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

Step 1 of 5 Take printer out

Open the box fully and lift the printer upward with support from both sides.

  1. Carefully remove the Canon PIXMA TS5170 from its packaging and discard any protective materials.
  2. Open the front cover and insert the ink cartridges into their designated slots until they click securely into place.
  3. Adjust the paper tray to fit your preferred paper size (e.g., A4, letter) and load the paper into the tray.
  4. Connect the power cord to the printer and plug it into a power outlet. Press the power button to turn it on.

Canon TS5170 setup on Windows

  1. Driver Installation:
    • Driver Download Links are on the bottom of the page.
    • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
  2. Connection Setup:
    • Wireless Setup:
      • On the printer, navigate to Menu > Settings > LAN Settings > Wireless LAN Setup.
      • Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
      • Follow the instructions in the driver installer to complete the connection.
    • USB Setup:
      • Connect the printer to your Windows PC using a USB cable.
  3. Using the Printer:
    • Printing: Open your document, select File > Print, and choose the TS5170.
    • Scanning: Use the Canon IJ Scan Utility or Windows Fax and Scan.
