imagePRESS C270

Last updated August 21, 2026

The Canon imagePRESS C270 is a colour production digital press built for commercial print shops, in-plant print rooms, and high-volume production environments. It's designed to deliver offset-quality output with the repeatability a paying client expects, running catalogues, booklets, direct mail, and light packaging across a wide range of substrates. Media handling goes well beyond office paper, covering heavy stock, textured and coated media, envelopes, and long-sheet banners. Inline colour sensors calibrate the press automatically during runs, which is what keeps colour consistent from the first sheet to the last.

An important practical note: the imagePRESS C270 is not a self-install device. These presses are delivered, sited, and commissioned by Canon-authorised technicians, who handle the physical installation, print server configuration, and initial colour calibration. The setup instructions below cover connecting operator and client workstations to an already-installed press, not installing the press itself.

imagePRESS Wireless setup on Windows

Production presses connect by wired Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. If your workstation is on Wi-Fi, it still submits jobs to the press over the network — follow the wired steps below, since the press-side connection is identical.

Troubleshooting Steps

Issue: Colour drifts across a long run

  • Run the inline calibration from the print server rather than adjusting manually
  • Confirm the correct media profile is selected for the exact stock loaded, not a generic equivalent
  • Check that the press has reached stable operating temperature before running colour-critical work
  • Log recurring drift with your Canon service provider, since it can indicate a hardware calibration issue

Issue: Registration is off on duplex work

  • Run the automatic registration adjustment from the operation panel
  • Confirm the media profile matches the stock's actual weight and grain direction
  • Check that the stock has been conditioned to the pressroom environment, since humidity affects sheet dimensions

Issue: Misfeeds or double feeds from a tray

  • Confirm the tray's media settings match the loaded stock's size, weight, and type
  • Fan and jog the stack before loading, particularly with coated or textured stock
  • Check that the stock weight falls within the supported range for that specific tray
  • Clean the feed rollers if misfeeds persist across multiple stocks

Issue: Jobs won't submit from a workstation

  • Confirm the workstation can reach the print server's IP address
  • Check that the correct queue or hot folder is selected, since jobs sent to the wrong queue can sit indefinitely
  • Verify the operator's account has submission rights if authentication is enabled
  • Confirm the job's media requirements match a defined entry in the media library

Issue: Output has streaks, banding, or spotting

  • Run the image quality adjustment routines from the operation panel
  • Check toner levels and replace any low bottle
  • Note the exact defect pattern and spacing before contacting service, as this helps identify the affected component

Issue: Media library entry missing for a new stock

  • Create a new media entry in the print server's media library rather than substituting a similar profile
  • Enter the exact weight, coating, and size as supplied by the paper merchant
  • Run a calibration against the new stock before committing to a production run
