Requirements & Prerequisite

Gather the following items before you begin setup. Tick each one as you get it.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

Step 1 of 5 Take printer out

Open the box fully and lift the printer upward with support from both sides.

  1. Take the printer out of the box.
  2. Remove the packaging and protective tape.
  3. Assemble the stand.
  4. Lift the printer, place the printer on the stand.
  5. Affix the printer to the stand.
  6. Attach the roll unit (If Required).
  7. Attach the basket to the stand.
  8. Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.
  9. Open the top cover and remove the belt stopper.
  10. Close the top cover.
  11. Select language, time zone, region.
  12. Install the ink tanks, open the ink tank covers and pull out the handle part of the ink tank lock lever.
  13. Lift up the ink tank lock lever until it stops and pull it towards you.
  14. Shake the ink tank
  15. Orient the ink tanks and mount them in the holders with the ink hole down.
  16. Firmly push down the handle part.
  17. Install the print head.
  18. Load the paper.

Canon PRO-521 setup on Windows

Setting up Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-521 – Windows (Wifi):

  1. Prepare the printer: 

a. Press the home button.

b. Tap on LAN settings.

c. Choose the Standard setup.

d. Select wifi setup.

e. Select your Wi-Fi router from the list.

f.  Enter the password.

  1. Download the Drivers:

a. Download and install the driver from the bottom of the page.

b. Once the installation is completed, run the installed file.

  1. Print the Test page:

a. Print a test page to confirm the setup.

USB Setup (Wired Setup):

  1. Download the Drivers:

a. Download and install the necessary drivers from the bottom of the page.

b. Once the driver installation is completed, run the installed file.

  1. Connect the USB Cable to your printer:

a. Plug the USB cable to your printer and the other end to your PC.

b. Go to the settings of your PC.

c. Search for bluetooth and devices.

d. Click on Printers and Scanners.

e. From the available printers list select your Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-521.

  1. Print the Test page:

a. Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Printer not connecting to wifi:
  2. Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
  3. Solutions:
  4. a. Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
  5. b. Place the printer close to the router
  6. c. Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
  7. d. Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
  8. e. Restart the router and printer
  9. f. Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
  10. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
  11. Solutions:
  12. a. Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
  13. b. Restart your printer and device
  14. c. Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
  15. d. For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
  16. e. On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
  17. Paper Jam:
  18. Solutions:
  19. a. Turn off the printer
  20. b. Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
  21. c. Check for torn paper pieces
  22. d. Restart the printer
  23. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors)
  24. Solution:
  25. a. Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
  26. b. Run Print Head Cleaning:
  27. c. Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
  28. d. Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
  29. e. Ensure you’re using compatible paper
