Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Remove packaging materials
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Plug in the printer, and turn it on.
- Open the front panel and install the cartridges.
- Load preferred paper into the tray.

Canon TS5040 setup on Windows
- On the printer’s screen, follow the setup wizard to choose language, region, and connect to your Wi-Fi using Easy Wireless Connect or manual input.
- On your Windows computer, download software and drivers from the bottom of the page.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts to begin setup.
- Select your preferred connection method (Wi-Fi or USB), and allow the software to detect the printer.
- Once connected, the installation will complete and the printer will be added to your devices.
- Optionally, print a test page to confirm successful setup.
Canon TS5040 setup on macOS
- Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi using the Easy Wireless Connect feature or manual setup via the control panel.
- On your Mac, open System Settings (or System Preferences) and navigate to Printers & Scanners.
- Click the “+” button to add a new printer.
- If the TS5040 appears in the list, select it and click Add to finish setup.
- If not listed, download drivers and software from the bottom of the page.
- Install the drivers and return to Printers & Scanners to add the printer.
- Set the printer as default if desired and print a test page.
Canon TS5040 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Connect the printer to Wi-Fi using the Easy Wireless Connect option on the printer’s screen.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store and install the Canon Print app.
- Launch the app and allow necessary permissions (Wi-Fi, notifications, location).
- Tap Add Printer or the “+” icon, then choose Register Printer.
- The app will search for devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Select Canon TS5040 when it appears.
- If the printer is not detected, follow the guided manual connection steps within the app.
- Once the printer is registered, you can print photos, PDFs, and documents directly from your device using the app.
- You can also print without the app via Apple AirPrint—open a document or photo, tap Share > Print, then choose Canon TS5040.
Canon TS5040 setup on Android
- Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network using the Easy Wireless Connect feature via the control panel.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store and download the Canon Print app.
- Launch the app and grant necessary permissions such as Wi-Fi, location, and file access.
- Tap the “+” icon or Register Printer to start detecting available printers.
- The app will search for printers connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Select the Canon TS5040 from the list.
- If it doesn’t appear, follow the app’s manual setup steps to complete the connection.
- Once connected, the printer will be saved in the app for future use.
- You can now print photos, documents, and web pages directly from your Android device.
Canon TS5040 setup on Chromebook
- Ensure printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network using Easy Wireless Connect from the printer’s menu.
- On your Chromebook, click the time at the bottom-right and go to Settings.
- Scroll down and select Advanced, then navigate to Printing > Printers.
- Click Add Printer. Your Chromebook will automatically search for available printers on the same Wi-Fi network.
- If the Canon TS5040 appears in the list, click Add to complete the setup.
- If it doesn’t show up, click Add manually, then enter a printer name (e.g., “Canon TS5040”).
- Input the printer’s IP address (find it on the printer’s network settings), and choose IPP as the protocol.
- Use /ipp/print as the path, and select Generic Inkjet or Canon TS series driver if listed.
- Click Add, and the printer is now ready for Chromebook printing.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the power
Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected - Check the cartridges
Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. Also make sure that there is enough ink and that the cartridges fit the model of your printer - Check paper
If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. Make sure there are no jams in the printer. You can now shut off the paper tray. - Check Wi-Fi connection
Ensure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
Make sure that the Wi-Fi is stable - Reset the printer
Resetting the printer can resolve many issues - Update printer drivers
If the drivers are outdated, check for newer ones
