Overview
Canon TR8500 is an all-in-one printer with capabilities like printing, copying, scanning and faxing. It is ideal for both personal use and small to medium-sized offices. TR8500 series offers reliable performance and vibrant results every time. Canon TR8500 comes in a very compact design. It is best for high volume usages.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
- Install the toner cartridges.
- Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon TR8500 setup on Windows
Setup guide for Canon TR8500 on Windows:
- Power ON the Printer:
To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button. - Download Drivers:
Download and install the full driver package from the bottom of the page.
When the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions. - Connect the Printer:
Run the driver file you downloaded.
Select wifi Connection.
Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi lamp blinks.
Connect Canon TR8500 to your Wi-Fi network.
Now follow the on-screen instructions and complete the process. - Add the Printer to Windows:
Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Click Add a Printer.
Choose your Canon TR8500 from the list.
Now follow the on-screen instructions to complete the further processes. - Print the Test page:
To make sure it’s functioning, try printing a test page from Word or Notepad.

Setup guide for Canon TR8500 on Mac:
- Power ON the Printer:
To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button. - Turn ON the wifi:
Turn the wifi ON and connect it with the printer. Ensure that your printer and Mac are on the same network. - Download Drivers:
Download and install the full driver package from the bottom of the page.
Select your macOS version from the dropdown (e.g., macOS Ventura, Monterey, etc.).
When the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions. - Add Printer to Mac:
Go to system settings > Printers & Scanners.
Click + to add a printer.
The Mac will automatically detect the Canon TR8500.
Select it and click Add. - Print the Test page:
To make sure it’s functioning, try printing a test page from Word or Notepad.

Setup guide for Canon TR8500 on IOS:
- Turn ON the Printer:
To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the power button. - Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
Search for “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY”.
Tap Download and install the app. - Turn ON the wifi:
Turn the wifi ON and connect it with the printer. Ensure that your printer and device are on the same network. - Add Printer:
Click on the “+” icon (usually at the top or bottom of the screen) to add a printer.
App will search for printers on your Wi-Fi network.
Your device will automatically detect Canon TR8500.
Select it and click Add. - Print the Test page:
To make sure it’s functioning, try printing a test page from Word or Notepad.

Setup guide for Canon TR8500 on Android:
- Power ON the Printer:
To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button. - Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
Open the Play Store on your Phone.
Search for “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY”.
Tap Download and install the app. - Turn ON the wifi:
Turn the wifi ON and connect it with the printer. Ensure that your printer and device are on the same network. - Connect Printer to Wi-Fi Using App:
In the Canon PRINT app, click “Add Printer”.
Select “Register Printer” > “Connect via Wireless Router”.
App will automatically detect your printer.
Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password to connect.
Canon TR8500 setup on Chromebook
Setup guide for Canon TR8500 on Chromebook:
- Power ON the Printer:
To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button. - Turn ON the wifi:
Turn the wifi ON and connect it with the printer. Ensure that your printer and Chromebook are on the same network. - Add Printer:
Click the Settings icon.
In the Settings menu, click on Advanced at the bottom.
Click Printing and then Printers.
Click the Add printer option to connect the Printer.
Your Canon TR8500 should appear in the list if it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi.
Click Add. - Print the Test page:
To make sure it’s functioning, try printing a test page from Word or Notepad.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the power:
Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected. - Check the cartridges:
Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. Also, ensure that there is enough ink. - Check paper:
If the papers are not arranged correctly, take them out of the paper tray and straighten them up. Make sure that the paper tray is not jammed. You can now shut off the paper tray. - Check Wi-Fi Connection:
Ensure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
Make sure that the WIFI connection is stable. - Update the Driver:
Outdated drivers may cause problems.
Check for the latest driver updates for your printer model.
Download and install the updated driver.
