Overview
The Canon PIXMA MP235 is a compact all-in-one inkjet printer capable of printing, copying, and scanning. It uses Canon’s FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) cartridge system, which is intended for everyday home and small office use.
Features
- Inkjet technology: It operates using inkjet technology, firing droplets of ink onto the paper for both text and photos.
- Print speed: It provides black-and-white print speeds of up to approximately 7.0 images per minute (ipm) and color speeds of about 4.8 ipm.
- Photo printing: A standard 10x15cm bordered photo can be printed in roughly 40 seconds.
- High resolution: The printer can achieve a maximum color print resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, which, along with the FINE cartridges, delivers good quality for documents and photos.
- Color system: It uses a 4-color ink system with two FINE cartridges—one black and one multi-color.
- Scan resolution: The flatbed scanner has an optical resolution of up to 600 x 1200 dpi.
Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Canon MP235 setup on Windows
Setting up Guide for Windows:
- Download the Driver:
- Download the “MP Drivers” for Windows.
- Run the Installer:
- Locate the downloaded .exe file and double-click it to start the installation process.
- Follow On-Screen Prompts:
- When the installation begins, select your country or region.
- Accept the end-user license terms to proceed.
- Choose the connection method, selecting USB for a direct connection.
- Connect the Printer:
- When the installer prompts you to do so, turn on your Canon MP230 printer and connect it to your computer using a USB cable.
- Complete Installation
- Verify Installation (Optional):
- To confirm the printer is installed, search for “Printers & Scanners” in the Windows search bar to check if your Canon MP235 is listed as ready.
Canon MP235 setup on macOS
Setting up Guide for MAC:
- Install the Driver
- Locate the downloaded file, which will be a .dmg file, on your desktop or in your Downloads folder.
- Double-click the .dmg file to mount the Disk Image, then double-click the mounted disk image to open it.
- Double-click the .pkg file to begin the installation process and follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
- Connect & Add Printer
- Ensure your Canon MP235 printer is powered on and connected to your Mac via a USB cable.
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
- Click on Printers & Scanners in the sidebar.
- Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button (usually a + symbol).
- Test Printing and Scanning
- Open a document and try printing to your new Canon MP235.

Setting up Guide for Android:
- Download drivers from your computer
- Download the necessary drivers and software for your computer.
- Install the software: Install the downloaded drivers on your computer.
- Connect the printer: Connect your Canon MP235 to your computer using a USB cable.
- Print from Android: Use the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app to print from your Android phone by sending the print job from your phone to your computer, then on to the printer.

Setting up Guide for Chromebook:
- Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network:
- Use the printer’s control panel to find the Wi-Fi or WLAN setup.
- Select your network and enter the password to connect the printer.
- Ensure your Chromebook is connected to the same network.
- Add the printer on your Chromebook:
- Click on the time in the bottom-right corner of your Chromebook screen.
- Select the gear icon (Settings) to open the settings menu.
- In the Settings menu, search for “Print” or scroll down to the Advanced section.
- Click on Printers and scanners, then select Printers.
- Add the printer and complete the setup:
- Click on Add Printers.
- Select your printer and click Add or Setup to add it to your Chromebook.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the basics:
- Power: Ensure the printer is powered on and not in an error state, as indicated by any warning lights or error messages on the display.
- Ink & Paper: Confirm that the printer has sufficient ink and paper loaded correctly.
- Verify Connections:
- USB: Make sure the USB cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer. Try a different USB port on the computer or a different cable.
- Wireless: Check your router and network status. If the printer is connected, try re-establishing the connection.
- Consult Error Information:
- On-Printer Messages: Look for error codes or specific messages displayed on the printer’s screen.
- Error Codes: Visit the Canon support website to find explanations for different error codes.
- Restart Devices:
- Restart the printer and computer: A simple restart can often resolve temporary connection issues.
- Restart the router: If using a wireless connection, restarting the wireless router can also help.
