Overview
The Canon PIXMA MG2950 is a compact, Wi-Fi enabled all-in-one printer for everyday use, capable of printing, copying, and scanning with a high resolution of up to 4800 x 600 dpi. Key features include convenient Wi-Fi connectivity for wireless home use and mobile printing via the Canon PRINT app, an economical XL ink option, and the FINE cartridge technology for detailed and high-quality prints.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Setting up Guide for Windows:
1. Download Drivers and Software:
- Locate the “Drivers & Downloads” section for the MG2950
- Download the full driver and software package.
2. Install the Software:
- Open the downloaded file
- Select your region and accept the license agreement.
- Choose “Wireless LAN Connection”.
3. Connect the Printer:
- The software will search for your printer; if it’s already connected to your network, select it from the list.
- If it’s a new printer, the setup guide will guide you through the wireless connection process. This usually involves pressing and holding the wireless button on the printer until a light starts flashing, then following prompts on your computer.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your password.
- Once connected, the printer will be ready to print.

Setting up Guide for MAC:
1. Download the software:
- Download the setup file for your printer model (MG) and operating system (Mac).
2. Install the software:
- Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation process. You’ll likely need to enter your computer’s password to install the helper tool.
3. Start the setup:which includes selecting your region and country, and agreeing to the license agreement.
4. Connect to your network:
- The software will guide you through connecting your printer to your Wi-Fi network. You’ll either need to select your network from a list and enter your password, or use the WPS method if your router supports it.
5. Install drivers and tools:
- Once the printer is connected, the software will download and install the necessary drivers and network tools.
6. Add the printer:
- In your Mac’s system preferences, go to Printers & Scanners, click the plus button, and add the printer.
7. Complete the setup:
- You may be prompted to perform a print head alignment or a test print.

Setting up Guide for IOS:
1. Download the Canon Print Inkjet/SELPHY app:
- Search for and download the app from the App Store.
2. Connect to the printer’s network:
- The app will likely prompt you to connect to the printer’s temporary Wi-Fi network.
3. Configure Wi-Fi:
- Once connected to the printer’s network, the app will allow you to select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
4. Register the printer:
- After connecting to your Wi-Fi, the app will guide you through registering the printer, which may involve searching for available printers on the network.
5. Print from your iOS device:
- Once the printer is registered, you can select it from within the Canon Print app or other compatible apps and print documents or photos.

Setting up Guide for Android:
1. Install the App:
- Download and install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app from the Google Play Store.
2. Enter Easy Wireless Connect Mode:
- Press and hold the printer’s Wi-Fi button until the blue light blinks. Then, press the color button twice.
3. Open the App:
- Launch the Canon PRINT app.
4. Connect to the Printer’s Network:
- The app will prompt you to connect to the printer’s temporary network.
- Connect to Your Wi-Fi:Once connected to the printer, the app will guide you to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
6. Print:
- After the connection is established, you can print from your Android device.
Canon MG2950 setup on Chromebook
Setting up Guide for Chromebook:
- Open Settings: On your Chromebook, go to Settings (bottom right corner, select the time, then Settings).
- Advanced Settings: Click on “Advanced”.
- Printers: Under “Print and scan,” select “Printers”.
- Save Printer: Next to your printer’s name (if it appears), click “Save”.
- Check Saved Printers: Verify that your printer is listed under “Saved printers”. If not, the printer might not be compatible with your Chromebook
Troubleshooting Steps
- 1. Initial Setup:
- Power on: Ensure the printer is turned on and paper is loaded.
- Software Installation: Download and install the necessary printer drivers.
- Choose Connection Method: Select either “Easy Wireless Connect” or WPS.
- 2. WPS Connection (If Available):
- Router Preparation: Ensure your router supports WPS and has the WPS button readily accessible.
- Printer Setup: Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi lamp flashes, then press the Color button and the Wi-Fi button again until the Direct lamp lights up.
- Router Activation: Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
- Confirmation: The Wi-Fi lamp on the printer will flash while connecting and remain lit when connected.
