Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Take all the accessories and the printer itself from the box.
  2. Remove all the packaging materials.
  3. Remove the protective tapes.
  4. Press on the power button to turn the printer on.
  5. Unpack the ink cartridges and install them.
  6. Load the paper.

Canon MF416dw setup on Windows

Setting up Canon image CLASS MF416dw – Windows (Wi-fi):

  1. Connect the printer to Wifi connection:
    • Choose your wifi connection from the available networks.
    • Enter the password.
    • Wait until the printer displays connected.
  2. Add Printer:
    • Click the Settings icon.
    • In the Settings menu, click on Advanced at the bottom.
    • Click Printing and then Printers.
    • Your Canon image CLASS MF416dw should appear in the list if it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi.
    • Click Add.
  3. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

USB Setup (Wired Setup):

  1. Connect the printer to USB Cable:
    • Plug the USB Cable into the printer and the other end to your Chromebook.
  2. Add printer:
    • Click the Settings icon.
    • In the settings menu, click on Advanced at the bottom.
    • Click Printing and then printers.
    • Click on the Add Printer option.
    • Your Canon image CLASS MF416dw should appear in the list if it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi.
    • Click Add.
  3. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Printer not connecting to wifi:
    • Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
      • Place the printer close to the router
      • Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
      • Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
      • Restart the router and printer
      • Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
  2. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
      • Restart your printer and device
      • Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
      • For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
      • On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
  3. Paper Jam:
    • Solutions:
      • Turn off the printer
      • Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
      • Check for torn paper pieces
      • Restart the printer
  4. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors):
    • Solution:
      • Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
      • Run Print Head Cleaning:
      • Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
      • Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu Ensure you’re using compatible paper
