Overview

The Canon MF240 is an all-in-one monochrome laser printer designed for home and office use, featuring print, copy, and scan functionalities. It utilizes a single-cartridge system, combining the toner and drum for simplified replacement. The series typically includes a 35-sheet automatic document feeder, a 250-sheet paper cassette, and features like one-touch solution keys and optional Wi-Fi connectivity.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
  2. Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
  3. Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
  4. Install the ink cartridges
  5. Load paper into the paper tray

Canon MF240 setup on Windows

Setting up Guide for Windows:

1.Install Drivers & Software

  • Using CD (If Provided)
  • Insert the CD that came with your printer.

a. Search for “MF240”

b. Download the latest drivers, MF Scan Utility, and Canon Toolbox for Windows

c. Run the downloaded setup file and follow the prompts

2.Connect the Printer

Wireless (Wi-Fi) Setup

a. On the printer’s control panel, press Menu

b. Go to Network Settings > Wireless LAN Settings

c. Select Yes when prompted to enable wireless LAN

d. Choose SSID (Wi-Fi network) from the list

e. Enter your Wi-Fi password

f. Wait for confirmation of connection

During the driver installation on your PC, select Wireless Connection and follow prompts

USB Connection

a. Connect the printer to your PC using a USB cable

b. During driver installation, select USB Connection

3.Add Printer to Windows

a. Go to Control Panel Devices and Printers > Add a printer

b. Windows should detect your Canon MF240

c. Select it and complete the installation

4.Print a test page from: Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click MF240>Printer Properties >Print Test Page

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1. Printer Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
  2. Possible Causes:
  3. Incorrect Wi-Fi password
  4. Printer out of range
  5. Network issues
  6. Solutions:
  7. Check Wi-Fi signal strength
  8. Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
  9. Menu Network Settings > Wireless LAN Settings > Select Network > Enter Password
  10. Restart your router and printer
  11. Ensure your Wi-Fi network isn’t hidden
  12. Ensure your printer and device (PC, mobile) are on the same network
  13. 2. Printer Not Detected on Computer or Mobile
  14. Possible Causes:
  15. Device not on the same network
  16. Driver or app not installed properly
  17. Solutions:
  18. For Windows/Mac: Reinstall drivers from Canon’s official site
  19. For iOS/Android: Install Canon PRINT Business app and search for printer
  20. Disable VPN temporarily (can interfere with local devices)
  21. Reboot all devices
  22. 3. Print Jobs Not Starting
  23. Possible Causes:
  24. Print queue stuck
  25. Printer in error state
  26. Out of paper or toner
  27. Solutions:
  28. Check printer LCD for error messages
  29. Cancel all print jobs from:
  30. Windows > Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click MF240> See What’s Printing >Cancel all jobs
  31. Ensure paper is loaded and toner is not empty
  32. Restart printer and try again
  33. 4. Poor Print Quality
  34. Possible Causes:
  35. Low toner
  36. Dirty internal parts
  37. Incorrect paper settings
  38. Solutions:
  39. Check toner levels
  40. Run a Cleaning Cycle from printer menu:
  41. Menu>Adjustment/Maintenance >Clean Fixing Assembly
  42. Ensure correct paper type is selected in print settings
