Overview
The Canon MF240 is an all-in-one monochrome laser printer designed for home and office use, featuring print, copy, and scan functionalities. It utilizes a single-cartridge system, combining the toner and drum for simplified replacement. The series typically includes a 35-sheet automatic document feeder, a 250-sheet paper cassette, and features like one-touch solution keys and optional Wi-Fi connectivity.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Canon MF240 setup on Windows
Setting up Guide for Windows:
1.Install Drivers & Software
- Using CD (If Provided)
- Insert the CD that came with your printer.
a. Search for “MF240”
b. Download the latest drivers, MF Scan Utility, and Canon Toolbox for Windows
c. Run the downloaded setup file and follow the prompts
2.Connect the Printer
Wireless (Wi-Fi) Setup
a. On the printer’s control panel, press Menu
b. Go to Network Settings > Wireless LAN Settings
c. Select Yes when prompted to enable wireless LAN
d. Choose SSID (Wi-Fi network) from the list
e. Enter your Wi-Fi password
f. Wait for confirmation of connection
During the driver installation on your PC, select Wireless Connection and follow prompts
USB Connection
a. Connect the printer to your PC using a USB cable
b. During driver installation, select USB Connection
3.Add Printer to Windows
a. Go to Control Panel Devices and Printers > Add a printer
b. Windows should detect your Canon MF240
c. Select it and complete the installation
4.Print a test page from: Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click MF240>Printer Properties >Print Test Page
Canon MF240 setup on macOS
Setting up Guide for MAC:
1.Download Drivers & Software
a. Search for “MF240”
b. Download the latest Mac drivers, typically the UFR II Printer Driver and Scanner Driver
c. Double-click the downloaded files and follow the installation instructions
2.Connect the Printer
Wireless (Wi-Fi) Setup on Printer Panel
a. On the printer’s control panel, press Menu
b. Navigate to Network Settings >Wireless LAN Settings
c. Select Yes to enable wireless LAN
d.. Choose your Wi-Fi network (SSID) from the list
e. Enter your Wi-Fi password
f. Wait for confirmation of successful connection
After this, your Mac should detect the printer over the same Wi-Fi network
USB Connection (Optional)
a. Connect the printer to your Mac using a USB cable
b.. Your Mac will attempt to automatically detect and configure the printer
3. Add Printer to Mac
a. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
b. Add scanner and Fax.
c. Look for Canon MF240 in the list (appears for both Wi-Fi and USB options)
d. Select it and click Add
e. Choose the appropriate driver (UFR II or AirPrint if applicable)
4. Test Printing & Scanning
- Open any document and print a test page
Canon MF240 setup on iPhone & iPad
Setting up Guide for IOS:
Using AirPrint (No App Needed)
- The Canon MF240 supports Apple AirPrint, allowing direct printing from iOS without installing additional apps.
a. Ensure your MF240 printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone or iPad
b. On the printer, go to:Menu > Network Settings > Wireless LAN Settings
c Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password
d. On your iPhone/iPad, open the document, photo, or email you want to print
e. Tap the Share icon (square with arrow up)
f. Select Print
g. Choose your Canon MF240 from the printer list
h. Tap Print
Canon MF240 setup on Android
Setting up Guide for Android:
1.Install Canon PRINT Business App
a. Open Google Play Store on your Android device
b. Search for Canon PRINT Business
c. Download and install the app
2. Connect to the Printer
a. Open Canon PRINT Business app
b. Allow necessary permissions
c. Tap Add Printer
d. The app will search for available printers on the same Wi-Fi network
e. Select your Canon MF240 from the list
3. Print or Scan:
a. Print documents, photos, PDFs, web pages
b. Scan documents and save them to your Android device
Canon MF240 setup on Chromebook
Setting up guide for Chromebook:
1.Print via Android App on Chromebook (If Supported)
- Many modern Chromebooks support Android apps:
a. Open Play Store on your Chromebook
b. Search for Canon PRINT Business
c. Install the app
2. Ensure your MF269w is connected to the same Wi-Fi network
a. Open Canon PRINT Business app
b. Add your MF240 printer (it should appear automatically)
c. Print documents and photos from within the app
Alternative Option: Save to PDF and Transfer
3.If direct printing doesn’t work:
a. On your Chromebook, choose Print > Save as PDF
b. Transfer the PDF to your mobile device or Windows/Mac connected to the printer
c. Print from there using Canon PRINT Business or regular PC setup
d. Wired USB Printing on Chromebook
- Unfortunately, most Canon MF series printers, including the MF240, do not offer native USB support for Chrome OS.
Troubleshooting Steps
- 1. Printer Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
- Possible Causes:
- Incorrect Wi-Fi password
- Printer out of range
- Network issues
- Solutions:
- Check Wi-Fi signal strength
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- Menu Network Settings > Wireless LAN Settings > Select Network > Enter Password
- Restart your router and printer
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network isn’t hidden
- Ensure your printer and device (PC, mobile) are on the same network
- 2. Printer Not Detected on Computer or Mobile
- Possible Causes:
- Device not on the same network
- Driver or app not installed properly
- Solutions:
- For Windows/Mac: Reinstall drivers from Canon’s official site
- For iOS/Android: Install Canon PRINT Business app and search for printer
- Disable VPN temporarily (can interfere with local devices)
- Reboot all devices
- 3. Print Jobs Not Starting
- Possible Causes:
- Print queue stuck
- Printer in error state
- Out of paper or toner
- Solutions:
- Check printer LCD for error messages
- Cancel all print jobs from:
- Windows > Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click MF240> See What’s Printing >Cancel all jobs
- Ensure paper is loaded and toner is not empty
- Restart printer and try again
- 4. Poor Print Quality
- Possible Causes:
- Low toner
- Dirty internal parts
- Incorrect paper settings
- Solutions:
- Check toner levels
- Run a Cleaning Cycle from printer menu:
- Menu>Adjustment/Maintenance >Clean Fixing Assembly
- Ensure correct paper type is selected in print settings
