Overview

Canon PIXMA iP8720 is a wireless inkjet printer. It allows you to print stunning borderless photos. It uses 6-colour ink system which delivers high printing quality. Canon PIXMA iP8720 supports wireless connectivity for effortless and hassle free printing.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Carefully unpack your Canon iP8720 printer and remove all the protective materials.
  2. Locate the power cord provided with the printer. Connect one end of the power cord to the printer’s power input port, and the other end to a nearby power outlet.
  3. Open the paper tray located at the front of the printer. Adjust the paper guides to match the size of the paper you will be using. Load a stack of paper into the tray, making sure it is aligned properly and the guides are snug against the paper.
  4. The Canon iP8720 printer uses individual ink cartridges. Open the top cover of the printer to access the ink cartridge holder. Install the ink cartridges by pushing them firmly into their respective slots until they click into place. Make sure you install all the required ink cartridges for your printer model.
  5. Press the power button on the printer to turn it on. The printer will go through an initial setup process. Follow any instructions displayed on the printer’s control panel, if applicable.

Windows

  • Download and Install Drivers:
    • Driver Downloads are available in the Bottom of the page.
    • Navigate to the “Drivers, Software & Firmware” section.
    • Select the appropriate driver for your Windows version and download it.
    • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Connect the Printer:
    • During installation, choose the wireless setup option to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Printer not connecting to wi-fi:
    • Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
      • Place the printer close to the router
      • Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
      • Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
      • Restart the router and printer
      • Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
  2. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
      • Restart your printer and device
      • Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
      • For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
      • On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
  3. Paper Jam:
    • Solutions:
      • Turn off the printer
      • Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
      • Check for torn paper pieces
      • Restart the printer
  4. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors):
    • Solution:
      • Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
      • Run Print Head Cleaning:
      • Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
      • Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
      • Ensure you’re using compatible paper
