Overview

Canon MAXIFY iB4020 is a high speed printer which delivers up to 30,000 page duty cycle. It supports wireless printing. It also has advanced Auto Sheet Feeder. Canon MAXIFY iB4020 produces smudge resistant prints.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Carefully unpack your Canon iB4020 printer and remove all the protective materials.
  2. Locate the power cord provided with the printer. Connect one end of the power cord to the printer’s power input port, and the other end to a nearby power outlet.
  3. Open the paper tray located at the front of the printer. Adjust the paper guides to match the size of the paper you will be using. Load a stack of paper into the tray, making sure it is aligned properly and the guides are snug against the paper.
  4. The Canon iB4020 printer uses individual ink cartridges. Open the ink cartridge compartment cover located on the top of the printer. Insert the ink cartridges into their respective slots, following the color-coded labels and making sure they snap into place securely.
  5. Press the power button on the printer to turn it on. The printer will go through an initial setup process. Follow any instructions displayed on the printer’s control panel, if applicable.
  1. Printer not connecting to wi-fi:
    • Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
      • Place the printer close to the router
      • Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
      • Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
      • Restart the router and printer
      • Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
  2. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
      • Restart your printer and device
      • Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
      • For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
      • On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
  3. Paper Jam:
    • Solutions:
      • Turn off the printer
      • Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
      • Check for torn paper pieces
      • Restart the printer
  4. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors):
    • Solution:
      • Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
      • Run Print Head Cleaning:
      • Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
      • Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
      • Ensure you’re using compatible paper

WIFI Setup

  1. Prepare the printer:
    • Press the Setup Button.
    • Press the OK Button.
    • Press the Stop Button.
    • Use the arrow keys to display Other setup. Press the OK Button.
    • Use the arrow keys to display Cableless setup. Press the OK Button.
    • Printer is now ready for setup.
  2. Download the Drivers:
    • Download and install the driver from the bottom of the page.
    • Once the installation is completed, run the installed file.
  3. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

USB Setup (Wired Setup):

  1. Download the Drivers:
    • Download and install the necessary drivers from the bottom of the page.
    • Once the driver installation is completed, run the installed file.
  2. Connect the USB Cable to your printer:
    • Plug the USB cable to your printer and the other end to your PC.
    • Go to the settings of your PC.
    • Search for bluetooth and devices.
    • Click on Printers and Scanners.
    • From the available printers list select your Canon MAXIFY iB4020.
  3. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Printer not connecting to wi-fi:
