Overview
The Canon MAXIFY GX6040 is a multifunction printer offering print, copy, scan, and cloud capabilities. It boasts high print speeds (24 ipm mono, 15.5 ipm color) and low running costs due to high page yields and refillable ink tanks. The printer also features a compact design, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, and a 35-sheet ADF for efficient document handling.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Canon GX6040 setup on Windows
Setting up Guide for Windows:
1. Download the setup file:
- Download the setup package for Windows.
2. Run the installer:
- Locate the downloaded file and double-click it to begin the installation process.
3. The installer will guide you through the software installation and printer connection setup.
4. Connect to your network (if using Wi-Fi):
- Ensure your printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- If using WPS, This may involve pressing the WPS button on your router and/or printer.
- If not using WPS, you may need to manually select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
5. Complete the setup:
- Once the connection is established, follow the remaining prompts in the installer to finalize the setup.

Setting up Guide for MAC:
- Download Software and Drivers:
- Locate the “GX6040 series Setup package (Mac)” and download it.
- Alternatively, you can download individual drivers and software if needed.
2. Install the Software:
- Locate the downloaded file and double-click to mount it.
- Double-click the “Setup” file within the mounted image to launch the installer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software and drivers.
3. Add the Printer:
- For USB connection:
- If you’ve connected the printer via USB, it should be automatically detected and added.
- For wireless connection:
- Ensure your Mac and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- add a printer.
- Select your Canon GX6040 printer from the list.
- Click “Add”.
4. Verify and Test:
- Once added, you can test the printer by printing a test page.

Setting up Guide for IOS:
- Make sure the printer is turned on and that you have loaded paper into the appropriate tray.
2. Download the Canon PRINT App:
- Search for and download the Canon PRINT app from the App Store.
3. Connect to Printer’s Wi-Fi:
- Start the wireless setup process on the printer itself.
- Go to your iOS device’s settings, select Wi-Fi, and choose the printer’s Wi-Fi network.
4. Print from iOS Applications:
- Open the application you want to print from.
- Select the “Print” option.
- Choose your Canon GX6040 printer from the list of available printers.
- Adjust print settings like number of copies, paper size, etc.
- Tap “Print” to start printing.

Setting up Guide for Android:
- Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app:
- Go to the Google Play Store on your Android device.
- Search for “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY”.
- Download and install the app.
2. Connect to the same Wi-Fi network:
- Make sure both your Canon GX6040 printer and your Android device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
3. Register the printer in the app:
- Open the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app.
- Tap on “Add Printer” or a similar option.
- The app will search for compatible printers on the network.
- Select your Canon GX6040 printer from the list.
- You may be prompted to change the printer name, then tap “OK”.
4. Start printing and scanning:
- Once registered, you can use the app to print photos and documents from your Android device.
- You can also use the app to scan documents using your printer’s scanner and save them on your Android device.

Setting up Guide for Chromebook:
1. Connect to the same Wi-Fi network:
- Turn on your Canon GX6040 printer and connect it to your Wi-Fi network following the printer’s instructions.
- Turn on your Chromebook and connect it to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Access the print dialog:
- Open the document, image, or page you want to print on your Chromebook.
- Press Ctrl + P to open the print dialog.
3. Select your printer:
- In the print dialog, locate the “Destination” or “Printer” option.
- If your Canon GX6040 is listed, select it.
4. Add your printer manually (if needed):
- If your printer is not listed, select “Manage” to add it manually.
5. Save the printer (optional but recommended):
- Once you’ve selected your printer, it’s a good idea to save it to your Chromebook’s printer list.
- In the print dialog, find the option to save or add the printer to your profile.
- This will make it the default printer for future print jobs.
6. Print:
- After selecting your printer and adjusting any print settings, click “Print” to send the job to your Canon GX6040
