Overview

Canon MAXIFY GX5050 is a highly productive printer with mega tank using high yield, refillable ink tanks. It runs on extremely low cost. Canon MAXIFY GX5050 is environmentally friendly. It uses refillable ink print technology which delivers sharp and vivid texts and clear images.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Take out any included manuals, power cables, and USB cables.
  2. Remove all packaging material and protective tape.
  3. To install toner, shake the cartridge, take off the seal, and put it in.
  4. Insert paper after adjusting the tray.
  5. Plug the printer into a power outlet and press the power button to turn it on.

Canon GX5050 setup on Windows

Setting up Canon MAXIFY GX5050 Windows (Wifi):

  1. Download the Drivers:

                                a. Download and install the driver.

                                b. Once the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.

  1. Turn on the printer:

                a. Plug into the power and press the power button to turn the printer on.

                b. Wait for the printer to start and select your preferred language from the display panel.

  1. Fill the ink tanks:

                                a. Open the ink chamber and lift it up.

                                b. Remove the cap from the ink bottle and place it facing down.

                                c. Once the bottle is empty, take the bottle out.

d. Now close the cap.

  1. Load the paper:

                                a. Take the paper tray out from the front.

                                b. Now place the paper properly in the tray and close the tray.

  1. Connect the wifi to the printer:

                                a. Press ok when the display shows Wifi setup.

                                b. Scroll ahead and click on the manual connect.

                                c. Now scroll forward to choose a wireless network.

                                d. Now select your network.

                                e. Enter the password.

                                f. Click on the settings icon and it will take you to the main screen displaying ready to print.

  1.     Print the Test page:

                                a. Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Setting up Canon MAXIFY GX5050 on Windows (USB):

  1. Download the Drivers:

                                a. Download and install the driver.

                                b. Once the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.

  1. Turn on the printer:

                a. Plug into the power and press the power button to turn the printer on.

                b. Wait for the printer to start and select your preferred language from the display panel.

  1. Connect the printer with USB cable:

                                a. Plug the one end of the cable to the printer and one end to your PC.

                                b. Now go to the settings.

                                c. Click on bluetooth and devices.

                                d. Now click on Printers and Scanners.

                                e. From the available printers list select your Canon MAXIFY GX5050.

  1. Print the Test page:

                                a. Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check the power:
  2. Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected.
  3. Check the cartridges:
  4. Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. Also, ensure that there is enough ink.
  5. Check paper:
  6. If the papers are not arranged correctly, take them out of the paper tray and straighten them up. Make sure that the paper tray is not jammed. You can now shut off the paper tray.
  7. Check Wi-Fi Connection:
  8. Ensure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
  9. Make sure that the WIFI connection is stable.
  10. Update the Driver:
  11. Outdated drivers may cause problems.
  12. Check for the latest driver updates for your printer model.
  13. Download and install the updated driver.
