Overview

Canon MAXIFY GX5020 delivers high quality, low cost printing. It has outstanding wireless connectivity in a compact size. It can print with a high page yield of up to 6,000 Black / 14,000 Color pages per full ink bottle set. Canon MAXIFY GX5020 has 4-colour pigment-based ink system.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Carefully unpack your Canon GX5020 printer and remove all the protective materials.
  2. Locate the power cord provided with the printer. Connect one end of the power cord to the printer’s power input port, and the other end to a nearby power outlet.
  3. Open the paper tray located at the front of the printer. Adjust the paper guides to match the size of the paper you will be using. Load a stack of paper into the tray, making sure it is aligned properly and the guides are snug against the paper.
  4. Open the ink tank cover located on the right side of the printer. Take the first ink bottle provided and remove the cap. Insert the bottle into the corresponding color-coded ink tank and gently squeeze it until the ink tank is full. Repeat this process for the remaining ink bottles.
  5. Press the power button on the printer to turn it on. The printer will go through an initial setup process. Follow any instructions displayed on the printer’s control panel, if applicable.

Canon GX5020 setup on Windows

  1. On the printer’s screen, select Easy Wireless Connect to initiate Wi-Fi setup.
  2. Download drivers and software package from the bottom of the page
  3. Run the installer and follow instructions
  4. Choose Wireless LAN Connection when prompted during installation.
  5. The setup wizard will detect your GX5010 on the same Wi-Fi network—select it and continue.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete driver installation and register the printer.
  7. Once installed, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers to confirm it’s listed.
  8. Right-click the GX5010 and select Set as default printer if desired.
  9. Print a test page to verify successful setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check the power
  2. Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
  3. Check the cartridges
  4. Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. Also make sure that there is enough ink and that the cartridges fit the model of your printer
  5. Check paper
  6. If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. Make sure there are no jams in the printer. You can now shut off the paper tray.
  7. Check Wi-Fi connection
  8. Ensure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
  9. Make sure that the Wi-Fi is stable
  10. Reset the printer
  11. Resetting the printer can resolve many issues
  12. Update printer drivers
  13. If the drivers are outdated, check for newer ones
