Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Remove packaging materials.
- Plug in the printer, and turn it on.
- Open the panel and install the cartridges.
- Load preferred paper into the tray.

Canon GX5010 setup on Windows
- On the printer’s screen, select Easy Wireless Connect to initiate Wi-Fi setup.
- Download drivers and software package from the bottom of the page
- Run the installer and follow instructions
- Choose Wireless LAN Connection when prompted during installation.
- The setup wizard will detect your GX5010 on the same Wi-Fi network—select it and continue.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete driver installation and register the printer.
- Once installed, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers to confirm it’s listed.
- Right-click the GX5010 and select Set as default printer if desired.
- Print a test page to verify successful setup.
Canon GX5010 setup on macOS
- On the printer’s screen, select Easy Wireless Connect to start Wi-Fi setup.
- Download drivers and software package from the bottom of the page
- Open the downloaded file and follow the installation prompts.
- Select Wireless LAN Connection when prompted and allow the installer to detect the printer.
- Once detected, confirm your printer and complete installation.
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, click the “+” button, and select Canon GX5010 from the list.
- Click Add to finalize printer registration.
- Print a test page to confirm setup.
Canon GX5010 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Connect the printer to Wi-Fi using the Easy Wireless Connect feature on the printer’s screen.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store and install the Canon Print app.
- Launch the app and allow required permissions (Wi-Fi, location, notifications).
- Tap Add Printer or the “+” icon, then choose Register Printer.
- The app will automatically search for printers connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Select Canon GX5010 when it appears in the list.
- If the printer isn’t found, tap Manual Setup and enter the printer’s IP address from its network settings.
- Once connected, the printer will be saved in the app for easy future access.
- You can now print photos, documents, or web pages directly from your iOS device.
Canon GX5010 setup on Android
- Connect the printer to Wi-Fi using the Easy Wireless Connect option on the printer’s screen.
- On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and install the Canon Print app.
- Launch the app and allow necessary permissions (Wi-Fi, location, storage).
- Tap Add Printer or the “+” icon, then select Register Printer.
- The app will search for printers on the same Wi-Fi network—select Canon GX5010 when it appears.
- If the printer is not found, choose Manual Setup and enter the printer’s IP address (found in network settings).
- Once connected, the printer is saved to the app for future use.
- You can now print documents, images, and web content directly from your Android device.
Canon GX5010 setup on Chromebook
- Connect the printer to Wi-Fi using the Easy Wireless Connect option from the printer’s control panel.
- On your Chromebook, click the clock in the lower-right corner and open Settings.
- Scroll down and expand the Advanced section, then click Printing > Printers.
- Wait for the Chromebook to automatically detect available printers on the same Wi-Fi network.
- When Canon GX5010 appears in the list, click Add to complete automatic setup.
- If it doesn’t appear, click Add Printer manually and enter a recognizable name (e.g., “GX5010”).
- Type the printer’s IP address (found on the printer’s network settings screen).
- Choose IPP as the protocol and enter /ipp/print in the Path field.
- Select Generic Inkjet as the printer model or a Canon-specific driver if listed.
- Click Add to finalize the setup.
- Print a test page to confirm functionality.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the power
- Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
- Check the cartridges
- Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. Also make sure that there is enough ink and that the cartridges fit the model of your printer
- Check paper
- If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. Make sure there are no jams in the printer. You can now shut off the paper tray.
- Check Wi-Fi connection
- Ensure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
- Make sure that the Wi-Fi is stable
- Reset the printer
- Resetting the printer can resolve many issues
- Update printer drivers
- If the drivers are outdated, check for newer ones
