Overview

Canon MAXIFY GX4020 is a mega tank wireless office and home printer. It comes with up to 2 years of ink included in the box. You can print up to 6,000 black & white and 14,000 color pages using a single set of inks. Canon MAXIFY GX4020 can print on envelopes, business cards, high resolution paper, banners.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Carefully unpack your Canon GX4020 printer and remove all the protective materials.
  2. Locate the power cord provided with the printer. Connect one end of the power cord to the printer’s power input port, and the other end to a nearby power outlet.
  3. Open the paper tray located at the front of the printer. Adjust the paper guides to match the size of the paper you will be using. Load a stack of paper into the tray, making sure it is aligned properly and the guides are snug against the paper.
  4. Open the ink tank cover located on the right side of the printer. Take the first ink bottle provided and remove the cap. Insert the bottle into the corresponding color-coded ink tank and gently squeeze it until the ink tank is full. Repeat this process for the remaining ink bottles.
  5. Press the power button on the printer to turn it on. The printer will go through an initial setup process. Follow any instructions displayed on the printer’s control panel, if applicable.

Canon GX4020 setup on Windows

  1.  Driver Installation:
  • Automatic Installation: the printer driver will be installed automatically when the printer is connected via USB or detected on the network. 
  • Manual Installation:If the driver doesn’t install automatically, you’ll need to download it 

     2. Locate the Setup File:

  • Navigate to the “Setup” section and download the appropriate setup file for your operating system. 
  • Run the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 

     3. Completing the Setup:

  • Test Print: Once the driver is installed, you can perform a test print to ensure the printer is functioning correctly.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Power and Basic Functionality:
  2. Ensure the printer is powered on, has paper and ink, and that there are no error lights or messages displayed.
  3. USB Connection:
  4. If using a USB connection, make sure the cable is properly plugged into both the printer and computer.
  5. Wireless Connection:
  6. If printing wirelessly, verify the network connection by printing a network configuration page, according to a YouTube tutorial.
  7. Error Messages on the Printer
  8. Error Messages in Printer Status Monitor:
  9. If an error message appears in the printer’s status monitor on your computer, refer to the manual for solutions. Examples include insufficient disk space or memory, or a missing printer driver.
  10. 5. Clogged Printhead: A common cause of poor print quality is a clogged or dried-out
  11. 6. Paper Jams: Clear any paper jams according to the instructions in the manual.
