The Canon MAXIFY GX4000 series is a high-volume, all-in-one printer featuring refillable ink tanks for ultra-low running costs and high page yields, using pigment ink for highlighter and water-resistant, smudge-free documents. It includes wireless and wired network connectivity, a compact design, a versatile rear paper path for thick media, user-replaceable maintenance cartridges, and comprehensive mobile printing support via apps like the Canon PRINT app.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Canon GX4000 setup on Windows
- Driver Installation:
- Automatic Installation: the printer driver will be installed automatically when the printer is connected via USB or detected on the network.
- Manual Installation: If the driver doesn’t install automatically, you’ll need to download it
2. Locate the Setup File:
- Navigate to the “Setup” section and download the appropriate setup file for your operating system.
- Run the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
3. Completing the Setup:
- Test Print:Once the driver is installed, you can perform a test print to ensure the printer is functioning correctly.
Canon GX4000 setup on macOS
- Download the software:
- Download the driver and software package for the MAXIFY GX4000
2. Install the software:
- Double-click the downloaded file to mount the disk image, then double-click the “Setup” file to launch the installer.
3. Connect the printer:
- To connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password.
4. Add the printer:
- Once connected, the installer will guide you through adding the printer to your Mac’s printer list. You may need to select your printer from a list and click “Add”.
5. Test the setup:
- You can optionally print a test page to verify the setup.
Canon GX4000 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Install the Canon PRINT app:
- Download the “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY” app from the Apple App Store.
2. Prepare the printer:
- Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to your local Wi-Fi network.
- Connect the printer to the app:Open the Canon PRINT app on your iOS device.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to add your printer.
- The app will likely detect the printer automatically if it’s on the same network.
- You may need to enter your Wi-Fi network password to complete the connection.
3. Print and scan:
- Once connected, you can use the Canon PRINT app to print documents and photos, and also to scan documents using the printer’s scanner.
Canon GX4000 setup on Android
1. Install the app:
- Download and install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app on your Android device from the Google Play Store.
2. Launch the app:
- Open the Canon PRINT app.
3. Add the printer:
- Tap the printer icon.
- Tap the “Add” button.
4. The app will guide you through the remaining setup process, which may include connecting to your Wi-Fi network or setting up a direct connection.
Canon GX4000 setup on Chromebook
- Connect to the same Wi-Fi:
- Make sure your Chromebook and Canon G4000 printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Select your printer:
- Canon G4000 from the list of available printers.
3. Compatibility check:
- Your Chromebook will automatically perform a compatibility check when you select the printer.
4. Save the printer:
- To save the printer for future use, navigate to Settings > Device > Printers and scanners and select your printer.
5. Start printing:
- Once your printer is set up, you can start printing your documents or images.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Power and Basic Functionality:
- Ensure the printer is powered on, has paper and ink, and that there are no error lights or messages displayed.
- USB Connection:
- If using a USB connection, make sure the cable is properly plugged into both the printer and computer.
- Wireless Connection:
- If printing wirelessly, verify the network connection by printing a network configuration page, according to a YouTube tutorial.
- Error Messages on the Printer
- Error Messages in Printer Status Monitor:
- If an error message appears in the printer’s status monitor on your computer, refer to the manual for solutions. Examples include insufficient disk space or memory, or a missing printer driver.
- 5. Clogged Printhead: A common cause of poor print quality is a clogged or dried-out
- 6. Paper Jams: Clear any paper jams according to the instructions in the manual.
