Overview

Canon GM2050 is a high yield black and white ink tank printer. It is designed for extreme low cost printing. Canon GM2050 is a professional printer with sharp document text from the pigment black ink and it keeps productivity up.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Take the printer, all accessories and manuals out of the box.
  2. Remove the packaging.
  3. Open the top cover and remove all the protective tapes.
  4. Open the print head locking cover.
  5. Peel the protective tape off the print head.
  6. Install the print head.
  7. Close the print head locking cover.
  8. Remove the tank cap.
  9. Open the ink tank cover on the left, remove the tank cap.
  10. Take the ink bottle and pour it into the tank.
  11. Push the tank cap firmly and close the tank cover.
  12. Press on the power button to turn the printer on.

Canon GM2050 setup on Windows

  1. Download the Drivers:
    • Download and install the driver from the bottom of the page.
    • Once the installation is completed, run the installed file.
  2. Connect the wi-fi to the printer:
    • Ensure the printer and computer are connected on the same network.
    • Now search for a wireless network.
    • Select your network.
    • Enter the password. 
    • Connect Canon GM2050 to your selected wi-fi network.
    • Your printer is connected.
  3. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

USB Setup (Wired Setup):

  1. Download the Drivers:
    • Download and install the necessary drivers from the bottom of the page.
    • Once the driver installation is completed, run the installed file.
  2. Connect the USB Cable to your printer:
    • Plug the USB cable to your printer and the other end to your PC.
    • Go to the settings of your PC.
    • Search for bluetooth and devices.
    • Click on Printers and Scanners.
    • From the available printers list select your Canon GM2050.
  3. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Printer not connecting to wifi:
    • Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
      • Place the printer close to the router
      • Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
      • Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
      • Restart the router and printer
      • Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
  2. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
      • Restart your printer and device
      • Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
      • For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
      • On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
  3. Paper Jam:
    • Solutions:
      • Turn off the printer
      • Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
      • Check for torn paper pieces
      • Restart the printer
  4. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors)
    • Solution:
      • Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
      • Run Print Head Cleaning:
      • Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
      • Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
      • Ensure you’re using compatible paper
