Requirements & Prerequisite
Gather the following items before you begin setup. Tick each one as you get it.
Overview
Canon GM2050 is a high yield black and white ink tank printer. It is designed for extreme low cost printing. Canon GM2050 is a professional printer with sharp document text from the pigment black ink and it keeps productivity up.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer, all accessories and manuals out of the box.
- Remove the packaging.
- Open the top cover and remove all the protective tapes.
- Open the print head locking cover.
- Peel the protective tape off the print head.
- Install the print head.
- Close the print head locking cover.
- Remove the tank cap.
- Open the ink tank cover on the left, remove the tank cap.
- Take the ink bottle and pour it into the tank.
- Push the tank cap firmly and close the tank cover.
- Press on the power button to turn the printer on.

Canon GM2050 setup on Windows
- Download the Drivers:
- Download and install the driver from the bottom of the page.
- Once the installation is completed, run the installed file.
- Connect the wi-fi to the printer:
- Ensure the printer and computer are connected on the same network.
- Now search for a wireless network.
- Select your network.
- Enter the password.
- Connect Canon GM2050 to your selected wi-fi network.
- Your printer is connected.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
USB Setup (Wired Setup):
- Download the Drivers:
- Download and install the necessary drivers from the bottom of the page.
- Once the driver installation is completed, run the installed file.
- Connect the USB Cable to your printer:
- Plug the USB cable to your printer and the other end to your PC.
- Go to the settings of your PC.
- Search for bluetooth and devices.
- Click on Printers and Scanners.
- From the available printers list select your Canon GM2050.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Canon GM2050 setup on macOS
- Download Drivers:
- Download the driver package from the bottom of the page.
- Once the installation is completed , run the installed file.
- Connect the Printer to wifi:
- Select wi-fi connection.
- Enter the password.
- Connect Canon GM2050 to your selected wi-fi network.
- Add Printer:
- Open the system preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer and click Add.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
USB Setup (Wired Setup):
- Download Drivers:
- Download the driver package from the bottom of the page.
- Once the installation is completed , run the file.
- Connect the USB Cable to your printer:
- Plug the USB cable to your printer and the other end to your Mac.
- On your Mac click on the system preference option.
- Now click on Printer and Scanners.
- The available printers list will appear on the screen, select your Canon GM2050.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Canon GM2050 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Connect to the Wifi:
- Turn on your Canon GM2050.
- Make sure your Iphone/Ipad is connected to the secure internet connection.
- Ensure that your printer and device are on the same network.
- Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
- Go to the app store.
- Search for the “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App”.
- Download and install the app.
- Add printer:
- Go to the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app.
- Now follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.
- App will search for the available printers, Select your Canon GM2050 from the available list.
- Click on Add printer.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Canon GM2050 setup on Android
- Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
- Download the app from the play store.
- Add the printer on the app:
- Click on the add icon on the phone.
- Now click on the register printer.
- Select your Canon GM2050.
- Now the printer is installed on your phone.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Canon GM2050 setup on Chromebook
- Connect the printer to Wifi connection:
- Choose your wi-fi connection from the available networks.
- Enter the password.
- Wait until the printer displays connected.
- Add Printer:
- Click the Settings icon.
- In the Settings menu, click on Advanced at the bottom.
- Click Printing and then Printers.
- Your Canon GM2050 should appear in the list if it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi.
- Click Add.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
USB Setup (Wired Setup):
- Connect the printer to USB Cable:
- Plug the USB Cable into the printer and the other end to your Chromebook.
- Add printer:
- Click the Settings icon.
- In the settings menu, click on Advanced at the bottom.
- Click Printing and then printers.
- Click on the Add Printer option.
- Your Canon GM2050 should appear in the list if it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi.
- Click Add.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Printer not connecting to wifi:
- Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
- Solutions:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
- Place the printer close to the router
- Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
- Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
- Restart the router and printer
- Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
- Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
- Solutions:
- Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
- Restart your printer and device
- Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
- For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
- On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
- Solutions:
- Paper Jam:
- Solutions:
- Turn off the printer
- Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
- Check for torn paper pieces
- Restart the printer
- Solutions:
- Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors)
- Solution:
- Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
- Run Print Head Cleaning:
- Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
- Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
- Ensure you’re using compatible paper
- Solution:
