The Canon GM2040 is a high-efficiency monochrome ink tank printer designed for cost-effective and high-volume printing. The GM2040 comes bundled with three ink bottles, a power cord, setup CD, and user manual. It’s a practical choice for maximizing productivity and minimizing printing costs.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Unpack the printer.
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Turn on the printer and install the black ink bottles as per the manual.
- Load paper into the paper tray.

Canon GM2040 setup on Windows
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Choose your connection method:
- USB – connect the USB cable when prompted. Wi-Fi – press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the lamp flashes, then use the Canon Print app or software wizard.
- Complete the setup and install any additional software as needed.
- Print a test page to verify the installation.
Canon GM2040 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
- On your iPhone or iPad, download the Canon Print app from the App Store.
- Open the app and tap “Add Printer”.
- The app will search for the printer on the same Wi-Fi network.
- When the GM2040 appears, tap to register the printer.
- If it doesn’t show, press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the wireless lamp flashes, then follow the app’s instructions to connect.
- Print a test page to confirm setup.
Canon GM2040 setup on Android
- Ensure it’s connected to Wi-Fi.
- On your Android device, go to the Google Play Store and download the Canon Print app.
- Open the app and tap “Add Printer” > “Register Printer” > “Connect via Wireless Router”.
- The app will search for printers connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- When the GM2040 appears, tap it to register the printer.
- If it doesn’t appear, press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the lamp flashes, then follow the app’s instructions to connect.
- Print a test page to confirm setup
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the power:
- Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
- Check the cartridges:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. There should be enough ink and cartridges should be compatible with the model of the printer
- Check paper:
- If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. There should be no jams in the printer
- Check WiFi connection:
- Ensure your printer and device are connected to the same network
- Make sure that the Wi-Fi connection is stable
- Reset the printer:
- Resetting the printer can resolve many issues
- Update printer drivers:
- If drivers are outdated, check for newer ones
