Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Take the printer out of the box.
  2. Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
  3. Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
  4. Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
  5. Install the toner cartridges.
  6. Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G7040 setup on Windows

  1. Plug the Canon G7040 into your network using an Ethernet cable or connect via USB directly to your Windows PC.
  2. Ensure the machine is turned on and ready.
  3. Download drivers from the bottom of the page
  4. Open the downloaded setup file and follow the installation prompts.
  5. The installer will search for the printer on your network or via USB—select the correct device when it appears.
  6. Finish the setup and allow Windows to register the device.
  7. Go to “Devices and Printers” in the Control Panel to set default preferences (e.g., paper size, print quality).
  8. Print a test page to ensure everything works correctly.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Check the power:
    • Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
  • Check the cartridges:
    • Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. There should be enough ink and cartridges should be compatible with the model of the printer
  • Check paper:
    • If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. There should be no jams in the printer
  • Check WiFi connection:
    • Ensure your printer and device are connected to the same network
    • Make sure that the Wi-Fi connection is stable
  • Reset the printer:
    • Resetting the printer can resolve many issues
  • Update printer drivers:
    • If drivers are outdated, check for newer ones
