Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Unbox and Prepare the Printer
- Remove all packaging and protective materials.
- Install the print heads and fill the 6 ink tanks with the included ink bottles.
- Power on the printer and complete the initial setup (language, ink charging, and alignment).

Canon G640 setup on Windows
- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
- Choose your connection method: USB or Wi-Fi.
- For Wi-Fi: Use the software to connect the printer to your network during the setup process.
- Add Printer in Windows
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner, select Canon G640, and click Add Device.
- Print a test page to ensure successful installation and functionality.
Canon G640 setup on macOS
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Wi-Fi Setup.
- Select your wireless network and enter the password to connect.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Click the “+” button and select Canon G640 from the list.
- Click Add to finish the setup.
- Print a test page to ensure the setup was successful.
Canon G640 setup on iPhone & iPad
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Wi-Fi Setup.
- Select your wireless network and enter the Wi-Fi password.
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Search for and install the Canon Print app.
- Launch the Canon Print app and tap Add Printer.
- The app will detect the Canon G640 on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Select the printer and complete the connection.
- Use the app or AirPrint to print photos, documents, or scan from your iOS device.
Canon G640 setup on Android
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wi-Fi Setup.
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password to connect.
- Open the Google Play Store and search for Canon Print app.
- Download and install the app
- Add the Printer in the App
- Open the Canon Print app and tap Add Printer.
- The app will search for the Canon G640 on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Select the printer to complete the setup.
- Use the app to print photos, documents, or scan directly from your Android device.
Canon G640 setup on Chromebook
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wi-Fi Setup.
- Select your wireless network and enter the password to connect.
- Ensure Chromebook is Connected to the Same Network
- Connect your Chromebook to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Click on the time in the bottom-right corner of the Chromebook and go to Settings.
- Scroll down to Advanced > Printing > Printers.
- Click Add Printer and select Canon G640 from the list of available printers.
- Open a document, press Ctrl + P, select the Canon G640, and click Print to test the setup.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the power:
- Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
- Check the cartridges:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. There should be enough ink and cartridges should be compatible with the model of the printer
- Check paper:
- If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. There should be no jams in the printer
- Check WiFi connection:
- Ensure your printer and device are connected to the same network
- Make sure that the Wi-Fi connection is stable
- Reset the printer:
- Resetting the printer can resolve many issues
- Update printer drivers:
- If drivers are outdated, check for newer ones
