The Canon G6040 is a high-performance, multi-function ink tank printer designed for small offices and home businesses requiring cost-effective, high-volume printing. It combines printing, scanning, and copying capabilities with smart connectivity and a robust design.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
- Install the toner cartridges.
- Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G6040 setup on Windows
- Unbox the printer
- Install ink cartridges as per given instructions
- Connect the printer to the power source
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Run the installer and follow onscreen prompts
- Connect printer to WiFi
- Choose the WiFi network and enter the password when prompted. Use Ethernet for a wired connection
- Once installed, go to “Devices and Printers” in Windows and right-click to set the G6040 as your default printer.
- Print a test page for confirmation
Canon G6040 setup on macOS
- Unbox the printer
- Install ink cartridges as per given instructions
- Connect the printer to the power source
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Connect to WiFi. Choose your network or connect with Ethernet
- Install the driver and follow on screen instructions
- Go to System Preferences>Printers and Scanners> and set it as default
- Print a test page to confirm normal operation
Canon G6040 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Unbox the printer
- Install the ink cartridges as per given instructions
- Connect the printer to the power source
- Connect Printer to the WiFi
- Use the printer’s control panel to connect to your Wi-Fi network by selecting the network and entering the password
- Download Canon Print app from App Store
- Launch the app and tap Add Printer
- The app will automatically detect G6040 on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Select it.
- Open any document or image, tap the Share button, and select Print.
- Choose your Canon G6040 from the available printers.
- Print a test page to confirm normal operation
Canon G6040 setup on Android
- Unbox the printer
- Install the ink cartridges as per given instructions
- Connect the printer to the power source
- Connect Printer to WiFi
- Use the printer’s control panel to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Go to Google Play Store and install the Canon Print app
- Install the app, open it and give necessary permissions
- Open Canon Print app and tap Add Printer
- The app will detect the PIXMA G6040 on the same Wi-Fi network. Select it.
- Open a document or image on your Android device, tap the Share or Print icon, and select the Canon G6040 as the printer
- Print a test page to confirm normal operation
Canon G6040 setup on Chromebook
- Unbox the printer
- Install ink cartridges as per given instructions
- Connect the printer to the power source
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Use the printer’s control panel to connect to your Wi-Fi network. Select your network and enter the password.
- Ensure it is connected to the same WiFi as your printer
- Open Chromebook and go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers.
- Click Add Printer. Canon G6040 should appear in the list of available printers.
- Set as Default (Optional):
- If desired, click on the printer and set it as the default printing option.
- Try printing a test page from any app (e.g., Google Docs) to confirm everything is working.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the power:
- Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
- Check the cartridges:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. There should be enough ink and cartridges should be compatible with the model of the printer
- Check paper:
- If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. There should be no jams in the printer
- Check WiFi connection:
- Ensure your printer and device are connected to the same network
- Make sure that the WiFi connection is stable
- Reset the printer:
- Resetting the printer can resolve many issues
- Update printer drivers:
- If drivers are outdated, check for newer ones.
