Overview
The Canon G590, part of the MegaTank series, is a photo printer designed for high-quality, low-cost printing. It is a six-color ink system with gray ink for enhanced photo quality and accurate color reproduction. The printer boasts high page yields, user-replaceable ink maintenance cartridges, and easy, hassle-free ink refilling. It also offers wireless connectivity, borderless photo printing, and support for a wide range of media.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
- Install the toner cartridges.
- Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G590 setup on Windows
- Download the Software:
- Download the appropriate software for your Windows version.
- Install the Software:
- Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation process.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, which will guide you through the installation and setup.
- During installation, you may be prompted to connect the printer via USB or select a network connection, if applicable.
- Add the Printer in Windows:
- For Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, then click “Add a printer or scanner”.
- For older versions of Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, then click “Add a printer”.
- If you’re connecting over a network, make sure the printer is on the same network as your computer.
- Configure Printer Settings:
- After adding the printer, you can right-click on it and select “Printing preferences” or “Printer properties” to access the printer driver settings.
- You can customize various settings like paper size, print quality, and more.
Canon G590 setup on macOS
- Download the driver: download the appropriate driver for your printer model (G500 series or G590) and your macOS version.
- Install the driver: Double-click the downloaded file, mount the disk image, and then double-click the “Setup” file to launch the installation process.
- Connect the printer: If using USB, connect the printer to your Mac. If using Wi-Fi, ensure both devices are on the same network.
- Add the printer: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (or Print & Scan).
- Click the plus button:Add a printer.
- Select the printer: Choose your Canon G590 printer from the list.
- Click Add: The system will automatically detect and install the necessary drivers.
- Set up printer options: You can further configure printer options (paper handling, output options, etc.) by selecting the printer in Printers & Scanners and clicking “Options & Supplies”.
Canon G590 setup on Chromebook
1. Connect to the same Wi-Fi:
- Make sure both your Chromebook and the Canon G590 printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Open Chromebook settings:
- Click on the time in the bottom right corner of your screen, then select the settings gear icon.
3. Navigate to Printers:
- Under the “Device” section, scroll down to “Printers and scanners” and select “Printers”.
4. Add or select your printer:
- If your printer is listed: Select it and click “Setup.” The printer should now be added and ready to use.
- If your printer is not listed: You may need to add it manually. Click “Add printer manually”.
5.Verify the setup:
- Once added, your printer should be listed under “Printers and scanners,” and you can begin printing.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Power:
- Ensure the printer is turned on and receiving power.
- Ink:
- Verify that the ink tanks are properly installed and have sufficient ink levels.
- Paper:
- Make sure there is paper loaded correctly in the designated tray.
- Error Messages:
- Check for any error lights or messages on the printer’s display.
- USB Connection:
- If using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer.
- Wireless Connection:
- If using a wireless connection, print a network configuration page (also known as a LAN details page) to check the printer’s Wi-Fi status.
- Troubleshoot Connection Issues:
- USB:
- Try a different USB cable or port to rule out cable or port issues.
- Wireless:
- Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- Check the wireless channel number of your Wi-Fi network and ensure it’s compatible with the printer.
- USB:
- Reinstall Printer:
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
- Printer Troubleshooter:
- Run the printer troubleshooter in Windows settings to identify and resolve potential issues
