Overview

The Canon G590, part of the MegaTank series, is a photo printer designed for high-quality, low-cost printing. It is a six-color ink system with gray ink for enhanced photo quality and accurate color reproduction. The printer boasts high page yields, user-replaceable ink maintenance cartridges, and easy, hassle-free ink refilling. It also offers wireless connectivity, borderless photo printing, and support for a wide range of media.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Take the printer out of the box.
  2. Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
  3. Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
  4. Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
  5. Install the toner cartridges.
  6. Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G590 setup on Windows

  1. Download the Software:
    • Download the appropriate software for your Windows version.
  2. Install the Software:
    • Double-click the downloaded  file to start the installation process.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions, which will guide you through the installation and setup.
  3. During installation, you may be prompted to connect the printer via USB or select a network connection, if applicable.
  4. Add the Printer in Windows:
    • For Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, then click “Add a printer or scanner”.
    • For older versions of Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, then click “Add a printer”.
    • If you’re connecting over a network, make sure the printer is on the same network as your computer.
  5. Configure Printer Settings:
    • After adding the printer, you can right-click on it and select “Printing preferences” or “Printer properties” to access the printer driver settings.
    • You can customize various settings like paper size, print quality, and more.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Power:
    • Ensure the printer is turned on and receiving power.
  2. Ink:
    • Verify that the ink tanks are properly installed and have sufficient ink levels.
  3. Paper:
    • Make sure there is paper loaded correctly in the designated tray.
  4. Error Messages:
    • Check for any error lights or messages on the printer’s display.
  5. USB Connection:
    • If using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the computer.
  6. Wireless Connection:
    • If using a wireless connection, print a network configuration page (also known as a LAN details page) to check the printer’s Wi-Fi status.
  7. Troubleshoot Connection Issues:
    • USB:
      • Try a different USB cable or port to rule out cable or port issues.
    • Wireless:
      • Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
    • Check the wireless channel number of your Wi-Fi network and ensure it’s compatible with the printer.
  8. Reinstall Printer:
    • Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
  9. Printer Troubleshooter:
    • Run the printer troubleshooter in Windows settings to identify and resolve potential issues
