Overview
The Canon G550 is a high-performance, single-function inkjet photo printer designed for professionals and enthusiasts seeking exceptional photo quality and cost-effective printing. Users can print directly from smartphones or tablets via the Canon Print app, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, or PIXMA Cloud Link. The 2-line LCD screen provides clear information and easy navigation.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
- Install the toner cartridges.
- Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G550 setup on Windows
- Unpack the printer, install the print head, and fill the ink tanks using the supplied bottles.
- Connect the printer to a power source and turn it on.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to begin installation.
- Choose your preferred connection method: Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet. For Wi-Fi, use the printer’s LCD screen to join your wireless network.
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners, click the “+” button, and select the G550 from the list.
- Complete Setup and Test
- Finish installation and print a test page to confirm proper setup.
Canon G550 setup on macOS
- Unpack the printer, install the print head, and fill the ink tanks using the supplied bottles.
- Connect the printer to a power source and turn it on.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to begin installation.
- Choose your preferred connection method: Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet. For Wi-Fi, use the printer’s LCD screen to join your wireless network.
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners, click the “+” button, and select the G550 from the list.

Canon G550 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Install the print head, fill the ink tanks, and load paper in the tray.
- Turn on the printer and use its LCD screen to connect it to your Wi-Fi network (SSID + password).
- Open the App Store and install Canon Print app.
- Launch the app, accept permissions (e.g., Wi-Fi and local network), and tap
- Add Printer
- The app will detect printers on your Wi-Fi. Select your G550 and follow prompts to complete registration.
- Choose an image or document from your iPhone or iPad and send it to the printer.
- You can also print directly using AirPrint by selecting the G550 in any iOS app with a print option (e.g., Safari, Photos).
Canon G550 setup on Android
- Unbox the printer, install the print head, and fill the ink tanks with the provided Canon ink.
- Power on the printer and use its LCD screen to connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
- Go to the Google Play Store and install Canon Print app.
- Open the app and grant necessary permissions (e.g., location and Wi-Fi access).
- Add the Printer
- Tap “+” or Register Printer > select Connect via network > the app will search and find the G550.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finalise setup and confirm connection.
- Choose a photo or document from your phone and print to verify setup.
Canon G550 setup on Chromebook
- Unpack the printer, install the print head, and fill the ink tanks with the provided ink bottles.
- Plug in and power on the printer.
- Use the printer’s LCD to join your wireless network (SSID + password).
- Make sure your Chromebook is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Click the clock > gear icon > Advanced > Printing > Printers.
- Click Add Printer. Your G550 should appear automatically. Select it, confirm details, and click Add.
- Open a document or image, press Ctrl + P, choose the G550, and print to verify setup.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Remove packaging materials, install the print head, and fill the ink tanks with the supplied ink bottles.
- Plug in the printer and press the power button.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Launch the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Choose Connection Type:
- Select Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet. For Wi-Fi, follow the prompts to connect to your network using the printer’s LCD.
- Once connected, the software will detect the printer and finalise setup.
- Load plain paper in the rear tray, then print a test page to verify functionality.
