Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
- Install the toner cartridges.
- Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G540 setup on Windows
- Remove all packaging materials from the printer.
- Plug the power cord into the printer and connect it to a power outlet.
- Open the ink tank cover and insert the included ink bottles into the corresponding slots.
- Place paper in the rear paper tray.
- Press the power button to power on the printer.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Connect via USB or Wi-Fi:
- For USB, connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
- For Wi-Fi, follow the prompts to connect to your wireless network.
- Go to ‘Devices and Printers’ in Windows settings and select the Canon G540 as the default printer.
- Print a test page to ensure proper setup.
Canon G540 setup on macOS
- Remove the printer from its box and discard all packaging materials.
- Plug the power cord into the printer and the wall outlet, then turn on the printer.
- Open the ink tank compartment and install the provided ink bottles into their respective slots.
- Insert paper into the rear paper tray of the printer.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Open the downloaded file and follow the installation steps.
- For USB: Connect the printer to your Mac using a USB cable.
- For Wi-Fi: Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your wireless network.
- Add Printer in System Preferences:
- Open “System Preferences” > “Printers & Scanners.”
- Click the “+” button to add a new printer and select the Canon G540.
- Set as Default Printer:
- In “Printers & Scanners,” select the Canon G540 and set it as the default printer.
- Print a test page from your Mac to confirm successful setup.
Canon G540 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Remove the printer from its box and discard all packaging materials.
- Plug the power cord into the printer and a power outlet, then turn the printer on.
- Open the ink tank compartment and insert the provided ink bottles into the correct slots.
- Place paper into the rear paper tray.
- On the printer, go to the settings menu and select the Wi-Fi option.
- Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your wireless network.
- Download and install the Canon Print app from the App Store.
- Open the Canon Print app, tap “Add Printer,” and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer.
- In the app or iOS settings, select the Canon G540 as your default printer.
- Print a test page from your iOS device to confirm successful setup.
Canon G540 setup on Android
- Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
- Download the app from the play store.
- Add the printer on the app:
- Click on the add icon on the phone.
- Now click on the register printer.
- Select your Canon imagePRESS C170.
- Now the printer is installed on your phone.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Canon G540 setup on Chromebook
- Remove all packaging materials from the printer.
- Plug the power cord into the printer and a power outlet, then turn the printer on.
- Open the ink tank compartment and insert the provided ink bottles into the respective slots.
- Place paper in the rear paper tray.
- On the printer, go to the settings menu and select the Wi-Fi option.

- On your Chromebook, go to “Settings” > “Advanced” > “Printing” > “Printers.”

Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the power:
- Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
- Check the cartridges:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. There should be enough ink and cartridges should be compatible with the model of the printer
- Check paper:
- If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. There should be no jams in the printer
- Check WiFi connection:
- Ensure your printer and device are connected to the same network
