Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Take the printer out of the box.
  2. Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
  3. Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
  4. Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
  5. Install the toner cartridges.
  6. Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G5040 setup on Windows

  1. Remove all packaging materials. Plug in the printer and turn it on.
  2. Open the ink tank covers and fill the tanks using the supplied ink bottles.
  3. Close all covers securely.
  4. Load plain paper into the rear tray or front cassette.
  5. Download drivers from the bottom of the page
  6. Launch the setup program and follow on-screen instructions to connect the printer via USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.
  7. Select “Wireless LAN Connection” during setup and follow prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
  8. Allow the software to detect the printer and finish driver installation.
  9. Run a test print to confirm successful installation.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Check the power:
    • Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected
    • Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. There should be enough ink and cartridges should be compatible with the model of the printer
  • Check paper:
    • If the papers are not arranged correctly, take out the paper tray and straighten them up. There should be no jams in the printer
  • Check Wi-Fi connection:
    • Ensure your printer and device are connected to the same network
    • Make sure that the Wi-Fi connection is stable
  • Reset the printer:
    • Resetting the printer can resolve many issues
  • Update printer drivers:
    • If drivers are outdated, check for newer ones
