Overview
The Canon G5020 Wireless MegaTank Printer is a high-performance, single-function inkjet printer designed for users with high-volume printing needs. It utilises Canon’s MegaTank integrated ink system, eliminating the need for traditional ink cartridges, making it an economical choice for both home offices and small businesses.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
- Install the toner cartridges.
- Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon G5020 setup on Windows
- Remove the printer from the packaging and place it on a stable surface.
- Open the ink tank cover and insert the ink bottles into their respective color slots.
- Place paper into the rear paper tray and adjust the paper guides to fit the size.
- Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer using the power button.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Run the Installer: Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer software.
- Choose your preferred connection method (Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet). Follow the setup prompts to connect the printer to your network.
- After installation, print a test page to ensure the printer is working correctly with your Windows PC.
Canon G5020 setup on macOS
- Unbox Remove the printer and all packing materials, and place it on a stable surface.
- Open the ink tank cover and fill each tank with the corresponding ink bottle.
- Load paper into the rear tray and adjust the paper guides for proper alignment.
- Plug in the power cord and press the power button to turn on the printer.
- Use the printer’s control panel to connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
- Download drivers from the bottom of the page
- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, click the “+” button, and select your Canon G5020.
- Print a test page to confirm successful setup and connection.
Canon G5020 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Remove all packaging materials and place the printer on a flat, stable surface.
- Open the ink tank covers and fill each tank with the corresponding Canon ink bottle.
- Insert paper into the rear paper tray and adjust the guides to fit the paper size.
- Plug in the power cord and press the power button to turn on the printer.
- Use the printer’s control panel to connect to your home Wi-Fi network.
- Go to the App Store and install the Canon Print app
- Open the app, tap Add Printer, and follow the prompts to connect your Canon G5020.
- Grant the app access to your photos and local network if prompted.
- Try printing a test document or photo to ensure the printer is set up and working.
Canon G5020 setup on Android
- Remove the printer and packaging materials, and place it on a stable surface
- Open the ink tank lids and fill each with the correct Canon ink bottle.
- Insert paper into the rear tray and adjust the paper guides accordingly.
- Plug in the power cord and press the power button to turn on the printer.
- Use the printer’s control panel to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Download the Canon Print app from the Google Play Store.
- Open the app, tap Add Printer, and follow the instructions to connect to the Canon G5020.
- Allow the app to access your device’s storage and location if prompted.
- Try printing a document or photo to confirm successful setup and wireless connection.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Printer not connecting to wifi:
- Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
- Solutions:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
- Place the printer close to the router
- Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
- Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
- Restart the router and printer
- Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
- Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
- Solutions:
- Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
- Restart your printer and device
- Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
- For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
- On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver

- Turn off the printer
- Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
- Check for torn paper pieces
- Restart the printer

- Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors):

- Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
- Run Print Head Cleaning:
- Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
- Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
- Ensure you’re using compatible paper
