Overview

Canon G3860 is a part of Canon’s MegaTank printer series which includes models like the G3060, G3260, G3460, G3560. It offers scanning and copying. It uses refillable ink tanks for ultra low cost printing. Canon G3860 is featured with a replaceable maintenance cartridge for long term reliability.

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Remove the outer packaging of the box and take the printer out of it.
  2. Take all the accessories from the box.
  3. Remove all the protective tape from the printer.
  4. Install print heads.
  5. Connect the power cord, and then press the ON button.
  6. Pour the ink.
  7. Load plain or A4 size paper.

WIFI Setup

  1. Connect the wifi to the printer:
    • Ensure the printer and computer are connected on the same network.
    • Now search for a wireless network.
    • Select your network.
    • Enter the password.
    • Connect Canon G3860 to your selected wifi network.
    • Your printer is connected.
  2. Download the Drivers:
    • Download and install the driver from the bottom of the page.
    • Once the installation is completed, run the installed file.
  3. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

      USB Setup (Wired Setup):

      1. Download the Drivers:
        • Download and install the necessary drivers from the bottom of the page.
        • Once the driver installation is completed, run the installed file.
      2. Connect the USB Cable to your printer:
        • Plug the USB cable to your printer and the other end to your PC.
        • Go to the settings of your PC.
        • Search for Bluetooth and devices.
        • Click on Printers and Scanners.
        • From the available printers list select your Canon G3860.
      3. Print the Test page:
        • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

          Troubleshooting Steps

          1. Printer not connecting to WIFI:
            • Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
            • Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
            • Place the printer close to the router
            • Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
            • Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
            • Restart the router and printer
            • Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
          2. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
            • Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
            • Restart your printer and device
            • Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
            • For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
            • On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
          3. Paper Jam:
            • Turn off the printer
            • Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
            • Check for torn paper pieces
            • Restart the printer
          4. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors)
            • Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
            • Run Print Head Cleaning:
              • Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
              • Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
              • Ensure you’re using compatible paper
