Overview
The Canon PIXMA G2970 is a modern, high-speed 3-in-1 MegaTank printer designed for heavy-duty home and small office use. As part of the newer G-series generation (equivalent to the G2470 and G2770 in other regions), it offers significant improvements in printing speed and ease of maintenance.
Features
- High-Volume Efficiency: Delivers ultra-low running costs with a high page yield of up to 6,000 pages in black (7,600 in Economy mode) and 7,700 pages in color (8,100 in Economy mode).
- Fast Print Speeds: One of the faster models in the entry-level tank series, reaching approximately 11.0 ipm (mono) and 6.0 ipm (color).
- 1.2-inch Segment LCD: Features a small, clear monochrome display that provides guided instructions for setup and maintenance, making it much easier to use than screenless models.
- User-Replaceable Maintenance Cartridge: Uses the MC-G04 cartridge, which you can replace yourself when the waste ink tank is full, preventing long service delays.
- No-Squeeze Ink Bottles: The ink bottles are uniquely keyed so they only fit the correct color tank, and they stop filling automatically once the tank is full to prevent spills.

Canon G2970 setup on Windows
WIFI Setup
- Prepare the printer:
- On the touchpanel select Setting/Registration.
- Select Login.
- Click on Administrator.
- Enter PIN.
- Click on login.
- Select device settings.
- Select Preferences.
- Select Network.
- Scroll down and choose the wireless LAN option.
- Tap wireless LAN settings.
- Choose the Other (Set manually) option.
- Tap Select Access Point.
- Now all the available networks will be displayed, select your one.
- Enter Password and your printer is connected.
- Download the Drivers:
- Download and install the driver from the bottom of the page.
- Once the installation is completed, run the installed file.
- Print the Test page:
- Prepare the printer:
- Press and hold the connect button for 3 seconds.
- Select LAN settings.
- Select wi-fi.
- Choose wi-fi setup.
- Tap Manual connect.
- Select your wireless router’s network name from the list and press OK.
- Enter the password.
- Download the Drivers:
- Download and install the driver from the bottom of the page.
- Once the installation is completed, run the installed file.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
- Prepare the printer:
USB Setup (Wired Setup):
- Download the Drivers:
- Download and install the necessary drivers from the bottom of the page.
- Once the driver installation is completed, run the installed file.
- Connect the USB Cable to your printer:
- Plug the USB cable to your printer and the other end to your PC.
- Go to the settings of your PC.
- Search for bluetooth and devices.
- Click on Printers and Scanners.
- From the available printers list select your Canon MAXIFY BX110.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Canon G2970 setup on macOS
- Download and Install Drivers:
- Driver Downloads are available in the Bottom of the page.
- Download the macOS drivers and software.
- Open the installer package and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Connect the Printer:
- Wireless Connection:
- During installation, choose the wireless connection option.
- Ensure both your printer and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Proceed with the setup as directed.
- USB Connection:
- Connect the printer to your Mac using a USB cable.
- The system should recognize the printer automatically.
- Wireless Connection:
Canon G2970 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Install Canon PRINT App:
- Download the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app from the App Store.
- Connect the Printer:
- Wireless Connection:
- Ensure your iOS device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Open the Canon PRINT app.
- Tap on “Add Printer” and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and add your printer.
- Direct Connection:
- If a Wi-Fi network is unavailable, use the printer’s Direct Connection mode.
- On the printer, enable Direct Connection.
- On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to the printer’s Wi-Fi network (SSID).
- Open the Canon PRINT app and add the printer as described above.
- Wireless Connection:
Canon G2970 setup on Android
- Install Canon PRINT App:
- Download the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app from the Google Play Store.
- Connect the Printer:
- Wireless Connection:
- Ensure your Android device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Open the Canon PRINT app.
- Tap on “Add Printer” and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and add your printer.
- Direct Connection:
- If a Wi-Fi network is unavailable, use the printer’s Direct Connection mode.
- On the printer, enable Direct Connection.
- On your Android device, connect to the printer’s Wi-Fi network (SSID).
- Open the Canon PRINT app and add the printer as described above.
- Wireless Connection:
Canon G2970 setup on Chromebook
- Wireless Connection:
- Ensure your Chromebook and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Click the status tray (bottom right corner) on your Chromebook.
- Select the gear icon to open Settings.
- Scroll down and click on “Advanced.”
- Under “Printing,” click on “Printers.”
- Click on “Add Printer.”
- Your Chromebook should detect the Canon PIXMA G2970. Select it and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
- USB Connection:
- Connect the printer to your Chromebook using a USB cable.
- Your Chromebook should automatically detect the printer and prompt you to set it up.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
