Overview
The Canon PIXMA G2560 is a high-speed, 3-in-1 refillable MegaTank inkjet printer designed for home, student, and small office use. It focuses on high-volume, low-cost printing by using integrated ink tanks instead of traditional cartridges.
Features
- Functions: Print, Scan, and Copy.
- Print Speed: * Mono: Approx. 10.8 ipm (images per minute).
- Color: Approx. 6.0 ipm.
- Note: This is faster than the entry-level G2520 model (9.1/5.0 ipm).
- Ink Yield: * Up to 12,000 pages from two black ink bottles.
- Up to 7,700 pages from a single set of color bottles.
- Economy Mode can increase black ink yield by up to 26%.
- Maintenance: Features a user-replaceable maintenance cartridge (MC-G02), which allows you to fix “waste ink full” errors yourself without sending the printer for service.
- Connectivity: USB only. It does not have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. (If you need wireless features, the G3560 is the equivalent Wi-Fi model).
- Media Support: Supports borderless photo printing (up to A4), banners (up to 1.2m), and various media like magnetic and restickable photo paper.
- Display: 2-line Full Dot LCD for easy setup and status monitoring.
Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Unbox the Printer
- Remove all packaging materials, orange protective tape, and internal cardboard inserts.
- Install the Print Heads
- Open the top cover.
- Insert the black and color print heads into their respective holders and lock them into place.
- Close the cover after installation.
- Fill the Ink Tanks
- Open each ink tank cover.
- Use the supplied GI-series bottles to fill the tanks (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) to the indicated levels.
- Close all caps securely.
- Load Paper
- Load A4 or Letter-size plain paper into the rear tray and adjust the paper guides.
- Power On
- Connect the power cable and press the Power button.
- Wait for the printer to initialize.
- Connect to Computer via USB
- Use the provided USB cable to connect the printer to your computer.

Canon G2560 setup on Windows
- Download the latest driver from below.
- Run the setup file and follow on-screen prompts.
- Connect the printer via USB when prompted.
- Print a test page to confirm installation.
Canon G2560 setup on macOS
- Download the macOS driver from Canon’s support page.
- Open the
.pkginstaller and complete the installation process. - Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, click the “+”, and select Canon G2560.
- Ensure the correct driver is selected before adding the printer.
Canon G2560 setup on Chromebook
Partial support via USB
- Connect the printer to the Chromebook using a USB cable.
- Go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers > Add Printer.
- If G2560 is not automatically detected:
- Click Add manually
- Enter a name, and select Generic Text-Only Printer or Canon G2000 series as the driver.
- Save and test print.
Canon G2560 setup on Linux
- Connect the printer via USB.
- Canon does not officially provide Linux drivers for G2560, but G2020 or G2000 series drivers are often compatible.
- Alternatively, install Gutenprint: bashCopyEdit
sudo apt update sudo apt install printer-driver-gutenprint - Open Printers, click Add, select the Canon G2560 (or use Canon G2000/G2020 drivers), and complete setup.
