The Canon PIXMA E478 is a compact, all-in-one inkjet printer that functions as a printer, scanner, and copier, featuring Wi-Fi and USB connectivity for printing from computers, laptops, and mobile devices. It supports mobile printing via the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app, cloud printing, and uses affordable PG-47 (black) and CL-57S (color) ink cartridges.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Canon PIXMA E478 setup on Windows
- Download the Printer Driver:
- Navigate to the drivers section for the E478
- Select your Windows version and download the appropriate driver file (usually a .exe file).
- Install the Printer Driver:
- Double-click the downloaded .exe file to start the installation process.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, including selecting your region and computer OS.
- When prompted, connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable (make sure it’s powered on).
- The installer will guide you through the rest of the process, including print head alignment.
- Connect to a Wireless Network (if desired):
- During installation, you’ll have the option to set up a wireless connection.
- If you choose wireless, the setup will guide you through connecting to your router.
- Alternatively, you can connect via Ethernet if you prefer.
- Test the Print:
- After installation, try printing a test page to ensure everything is working correctly.

- Connect the printer:
- Turn on the printer and connect it to your Mac using a USB cable.
- Install the software:
- If you have a CD-ROM, insert it and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If not, download the necessary software.
- Choose “Use the printer via USB” during the installation.
- Add the printer to your Mac’s list:
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- If your printer isn’t listed, click the “+” button to add it.
- Select your printer model from the list.
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network:
- You may need to connect the printer to your Mac via USB initially to set up the Wi-Fi connection.
- Test Print:
- After setting up, perform a test print to ensure everything is working.

- Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network:
- Ensure your Chromebook and Canon E478 are both connected to the same wireless network.
- Access Chromebook settings:
- Click the time in the bottom right corner, then select “Settings”.
- Navigate to Printers and scanners:
- Under “Device,” find and select “Printers and scanners”.
- Add the printer:
- Choose “Printers + Add printer manually”.
- Enter printer information:
- Name:
- Give the printer a name for easy identification.
- Address:
- Enter the printer’s IP address .
- Protocol:
- For most printers, use Internet Printing Protocol (IPP).
- Queue:
- For most printers, use ipp/print.
- Add the printer:
- Select “Add” to finalize the setup
