Overview
The Canon PIXMA E400 is a compact, all-in-one inkjet printer designed for home or small office use, offering print, copy, and scan functions with an emphasis on ink efficiency.
Features
- Ink Efficiency: It uses high-yield, ink-efficient PG-47 (black) and CL-57 (color) cartridges, capable of printing approximately 400 pages (black) and 300 pages (color) of A4 documents, which helps lower operational costs.
- Print Resolution: The printer delivers a maximum color print resolution of up to 4800 x 600 dpi for quality documents and photos.
- Print Speed: It offers ISO standard print speeds of approximately 8.0 ipm (black and white) and 4.0 :ipm (color).
- Scan Resolution: The built-in flatbed scanner provides an optical resolution of up to 600 x 1200 dpi for detailed scans.
- Connectivity: It connects to a computer via a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port; it does not support wireless connectivity.
Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Canon PIXMA E400 setup on Windows
- Download the driver and software:
- Download the full driver and software package.
- Install the software:
- Double-click the downloaded file to start the setup process, which may include selecting your printer and accepting terms.
- Connect the printer:
- If the printer driver isn’t automatically installed, your computer might not be detecting the printer. You may need to manually add the printer through your Windows settings.
- For wireless connections: Ensure your computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer.
- For USB connections: Connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable.

- Install Canon PRINT app:
- Download and install the Canon PRINT app from Google Play Store onto your Android smartphone or tablet.
- Connect to the same Wi-Fi network:
- Ensure your Android device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that your Canon E400 printer is connected to.
- Launch Canon PRINT app:
- Open the Canon PRINT app on your Android device.
- Register your printer:
- The app will typically search for available Canon printers on the network.
- Print and Scan:
- Once your printer is registered, you can use the Canon PRINT app to print documents and photos from your Android device or scan images to your device.
Canon PIXMA E400 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Using AirPrint (Recommended):
- Connect your E400 to your Wi-Fi network . Refer to the printer’s setup guide for specific instructions on network connection if needed.
- Ensure your iOS device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network: as the printer.
- Open the document or photo you wish to print: on your iOS device.
- Tap the “Share” icon: (the square with an arrow pointing up) and then select “Print”.
- Select your Canon E400 printer: from the list of available printers and adjust print settings as needed.
- Tap “Print” .
- Using the Canon PRINT app:
- Download the “Canon PRINT” app: from the App Store on your iOS device.
- Open the Canon PRINT app: and follow the on-screen instructions to add and set up your E400 printer. You can connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network through this app if needed.
- Once set up, you can use the app: to print documents and photos from your iOS device, and also utilize other features.
Canon PIXMA E400 setup on Android
- Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
- Download the app from the play store.
- Add the printer on the app:
- Click on the add icon on the phone.
- Now click on the register printer.
- Select your Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4251i.
- Now the printer is installed on your phone.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.
Canon PIXMA E400 setup on Chromebook
- Add the printer to your Chromebook:
- On your Chromebook, click on the time at the bottom right of the screen.
- Select Settings (the gear icon).
- Click on Advanced to expand the menu.
- Scroll down and select Printing.
- Click on Printers.
- If your printer is listed, click Setup next to its name.
- Test your printer:
- After adding the printer, test it to ensure it works correctly. If it’s not appearing in the list of printers, select “See more” and choose the printer you wish to use, then click “Print”.
