Canon E3400 is a multifunctional inkjet printer which is designed for homes, small businesses, and students. It offers printing, scanning, and copying. Canon E3400 supports wireless printing. It is compact and can fit in small spaces. Canon E3400 is a part of Canon’s affordable E-series,which stands out for its ink efficiency and ease of use.

Setup and Installation

  • Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
  • Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
  • Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
  • Install the ink cartridges 
  • Load paper into the paper tray

Wifi:

  1. Power on the Printer:
    • To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button.
  2. Download Drivers:
    • Download and install the full driver package from the bottom of the page.
    • When the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Connect the Printer to wifi:
    • Select wifi Connection.
    • Enter the password.
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi lamp blinks.
    • Connect Canon E3400 to your Wi-Fi network.
  4. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

USB/Wired:

  1. Turn the printer on:
    • Plug into the power cord and press the power button to turn the printer on.
  2. Connect the Printer to Your PC:
    • Connect USB cable when prompted.
    • Plug the USB cable into the printer and connect the other end to your PC.
  3. Download Drivers:
    • Download and install the full driver package from the bottom of the page.
    • When the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Wi-Fi:

  1. Power on the Printer:
    • To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button.
  2. Connect the Printer to wifi:
    • Select wifi Connection.
    • Enter the password.
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi lamp blinks.
    • Connect Canon E3400 to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Download Drivers:
    • Download and install the full driver package from the bottom of the page.
    • Select your macOS version from the dropdown (e.g., macOS Ventura, Monterey, etc.).
    • When the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Add Printer to Mac:
    • Go to system settings > Printers & Scanners.
    • Click “+” to add a printer.
    • The Mac will automatically detect the Canon E3400. 
    • Select it and click Add.
  5. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

USB/Wired:

  1. Power on the Printer:
    • To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button.
  2. Download Drivers:
    • Download and install the full driver package from the bottom of the page.
    • When the installation is completed, run the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Connect the Printer to Your Mac:
    • Connect USB cable when prompted.
    • Plug the USB cable into the printer and connect the other end to your Mac.
  4. Add Printer to Mac:
    • Go to system settings > Printers & Scanners.
    • Click “+” to add a printer.
    • The Mac will automatically detect the Canon E3400. 
    • Select it and click Add.
  5. Print the Test page:

  3. Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
    • Open the Play Store on your Phone.
    • Search for “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY”.
    • Tap Download and install the app.
  4. Connect Printer to Wi-Fi Using App:
    • In the Canon PRINT app, click “Add Printer”.
    • Select “Register Printer” > “Connect via Wireless Router”.
    • App will automatically detect your printer.
    • Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password to connect.
  5. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Wi-Fi:

  1. Power on the Printer:
    • To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button.
  2. Connect the Printer to wifi:
    • Select wifi Connection.
    • Enter the password.
    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi lamp blinks.
    • Connect Canon E3400 to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Add Printer:
    • Click the Settings icon.
    • In the Settings menu, click on Advanced at the bottom.
    • Click Printing and then Printers.
    • Click the Add printer option to connect the Printer.
    • Your Canon E3400 should appear in the list if it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi.
    • Click Add.
  4. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

Wired:

  1. Power on the Printer:
    • To turn on the printer, plug in the power cord and press the Power button.
  2. Connect the Printer to Your Chromebook:
    • Connect USB cable when prompted.
    • Plug the USB cable into the printer and connect the other end to your Chromebook.
  3. Add Printer:
    • Click the Settings icon.
    • In the Settings menu, click on Advanced at the bottom.
    • Click Printing and then Printers.
    • Click the Add printer option to connect the Printer.
    • Your Canon E3400 should appear in the list if it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi.
    • Click Add.
  4. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.

    • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi lamp blinks.
    • Connect Canon E3400 to your Wi-Fi network.
  4. Add Printer:
    • Click on the “+” icon (usually at the top or bottom of the screen) to add a printer.
    • App will search for printers on your Wi-Fi network.
    • Your device will automatically detect Canon E3400.
    • Select it and click Add.
  5. Print the Test page:
    • Print a test page to confirm the setup.
  1. You can also use AirPrint to print without downloading any app:
  2. Open an image, email, or document.
  3. Click on the share icon.
  4. Select Print.
  5. Select Canon E3400 from the printer list.
  6. Click Print.  

Drivers

For some versions like Mac Air Print on Mac OS, The Drivers are not required. Hence you will see no drivers Required.

Troubleshooting Steps

Basic Troubleshooting steps for Canon E3400 printer are:

  1. Check the power:
    • Check the printer plug and the wall outlet both are securely connected.
  2. Check the cartridges:
    • Make sure the ink cartridges are placed correctly. Also, ensure that there is enough ink.
  3. Check paper:
    • If the papers are not arranged correctly, take them out of the paper tray and straighten them up. Make sure that the paper tray is not jammed. You can now shut off the paper tray.
  4. Check Wi-Fi Connection:
    • Ensure that your printer and device are connected to the same network.
    • Make sure that the WIFI connection is stable.
  5. Update the Driver: 
    • Outdated drivers may cause problems. 
    • Check for the latest driver updates for your printer model.
    • Download and install the updated driver.
