The Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6870i is an A3 monochrome laser multifunction printer designed for high-volume office environments, offering printing, copying, scanning, and optional fax capabilities. It is known for high productivity, advanced security, and seamless workflow integration.

Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX6870i setup on Windows
- Download the Printer Driver:
- Select Your Model
- Choose Drivers: Navigate to the Drivers or Software & Drivers tab.
- Download Driver: Download the recommended driver package.
- Install the Printer Driver
- Run the Installer: Locate the downloaded file and run it.
- The installer will guide you through the setup process
- Select Connection Method: The installer will ask how the printer is connected. Select Network Connection or USB Connection as appropriate.
- Add the Printer:
- For a network connection, the installer will search for the printer on your network. Once found, select it from the list.
- Alternatively, you can manually add the printer via Windows settings:
- Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.
- Click Add a printer and select The printer that I want isn’t listed if the printer doesn’t appear automatically.
- Complete Installation
- Test the Printer: Once the installation is complete, you can perform a test print from any application to ensure the printer is working correctly.

- Download and Install the Printer Driver:
- Select your macOS version from the operating system dropdown menu on the support page.
- Download the appropriate driver package
- Open the downloaded file .
- Run the installer inside the mounted disk image and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software and connection settings.
- Add the Printer to Your Mac:
- Open System Settings by clicking the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Navigate to “Printers & Scanners”.
- Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button .
- Select your Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6870i from the list of available printers that appears. The Mac should automatically find the correct driver you installed.
- Click “Add” to complete the setup process.

- Install the Canon App:
- The Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6870i is compatible with the Canon PRINT Business app.
- Download and install the Canon PRINT Business app from the Google Play Store.
- Register the Printer in the App:
- Open the Canon PRINT Business app on your Android device.
- Tap the “Add Printer” option (often a printer icon or “Register Printer” button).
- The app will search for compatible printers on your network.
- Select your imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 6870i from the list when it appears.
- Printing from Android:
- Once the printer is registered, you can print photos and documents directly from your Android device.
Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX6870i setup on Chromebook
- Add the Printer to Your Chromebook:
- Access Settings: At the bottom right of your Chromebook screen, select the time, then select the Settings gear icon.
- Navigate to Print Settings: Scroll down and select Advanced, then select Print under the “Print and scan” section.
- Add the Printer:Look under “Other available printers”. Your DX 6870i should appear automatically if it is compatible and on the same network.
- Next to your printer’s name, select Save or Set up. The printer will then be added to “Your saved printers” list.
