Overview
The Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 617i is an A4 monochrome laser multifunctional printer designed for office environments, offering print, copy, scan, and send functionalities, with an optional fax feature.
Features
- Speed and Resolution: It delivers fast monochrome printing and copying at up to 61 pages per minute (ppm) for A4-sized paper.
- Control Panel: It features a large, intuitive 10.1-inch TFT LCD WSVGA color touch panel for easy operation and workflow management.
- Connectivity and Mobile Printing: Standard connectivity options include wired Ethernet and Wireless LAN along with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. It supports mobile and cloud printing solutions such as AirPrint, Mopria, Google Cloud Print, and Canon PRINT Business.
- Paper Handling: The standard setup includes a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray and a 550-sheet paper cassette, for a standard capacity of 650 sheets.
Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Remove all packaging material and protective tapes from the printer
- Take out documentation material, power cord and other accessories from the box.
- Connect the power cord and turn ON the printer
- Install the ink cartridges
- Load paper into the paper tray

- Download the Printer Driver
- Select Your Model: Ensure that imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 617i is selected as your model.
- Choose Drivers: Navigate to the Drivers or Software & Drivers tab.
- Download Driver: Download the recommended driver package.
- Install the Printer Driver
- Run the Installer: Locate the downloaded file and run it.
- The installer will guide you through the setup process
- Select Connection Method: The installer will ask how the printer is connected. Select Network Connection or USB Connection as appropriate.
- Add the Printer:
- For a network connection, the installer will search for the printer on your network. Once found, select it from the list.
- Alternatively, you can manually add the printer via Windows settings:
- Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.
- Click Add a printer and select The printer that I want isn’t listed if the printer doesn’t appear automatically.
- Complete Installation
- Test the Printer: Once the installation is complete, you can perform a test print from any application to ensure the printer is working correctly.

- Download and Install the Printer Driver:
- Select your macOS version from the operating system dropdown menu on the support page.
- Download the appropriate driver package
- Open the downloaded file .
- Run the installer inside the mounted disk image and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software and connection settings.
- Add the Printer to Your Mac:
- Open System Settings by clicking the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Navigate to “Printers & Scanners”.
- Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button .
- Select your Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 617i from the list of available printers that appears. The Mac should automatically find the correct driver you installed.
- Click “Add” to complete the setup process.

- Connect to the Wifi:
- Turn on your Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4725.
- Make sure your Iphone/Ipad is connected to the secure internet connection.
- Ensure that your printer and device are on the same network.
- Install the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App:
- Go to the app store.
- Search for the “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY App”.
- Download and install the app.
- Add printer:
- Go to the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app.
- Now follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.
- App will search for the available printers, Select your Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 4725 from the available list.
- Click on Add printer.
- Print the Test page:
- Print a test page to confirm the setup.

- Install the Canon App:
- The Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 617i is compatible with the Canon PRINT Business app.
- Download and install the Canon PRINT Business app from the Google Play Store.
- Register the Printer in the App:
- Open the Canon PRINT Business app on your Android device.
- Tap the “Add Printer” option (often a printer icon or “Register Printer” button).
- The app will search for compatible printers on your network.
- Select your imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX 617i from the list when it appears.
- Printing from Android:
- Once the printer is registered, you can print photos and documents directly from your Android device.
Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX617i setup on Chromebook
- Add the Printer to Your Chromebook:
- Access Settings: At the bottom right of your Chromebook screen, select the time, then select the Settings gear icon.
- Navigate to Print Settings: Scroll down and select Advanced, then select Print under the “Print and scan” section.
- Add the Printer:Look under “Other available printers”. Your DX 617i should appear automatically if it is compatible and on the same network.
- Next to your printer’s name, select Save or Set up. The printer will then be added to “Your saved printers” list.
