Overview

Unboxing & Initial Setup

  1. Carefully remove the Canon PRO-G1 from its packaging and discard any protective materials.
  2. Open the printer cover and insert the ink cartridges into their designated slots until they click securely into place.
  3. Adjust the paper tray to fit your desired paper size and load the paper into the tray.
  4. Connect the power cord to the printer and plug it into a power outlet. Press the power button to turn it on.

Installing the Printer Driver

  1. Driver Download Links are in the bottom of the page.
  2. Run the Installer: Open the downloaded setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.
  3. Choose Connection Type: During the installation process, select your preferred connection method: USB or Wi-Fi.

Connecting the Printer

  1. USB Setup: For a USB connection, connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable when prompted during installation.
  2. Wi-Fi Setup: For wireless printing, press the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the Wi-Fi indicator blinks. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the printer to your wireless network.
  3. Confirm Connection: Ensure your computer or mobile device can detect the printer.

Testing the Printer

  1. Print a Test Page: Once the setup is complete, print a test page to ensure that the printer is functioning correctly.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Printer not connecting to wi-fi:
    • Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
      • Place the printer close to the router
      • Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
      • Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
      • Restart the router and printer
      • Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
  2. Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
    • Solutions:
      • Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
      • Restart your printer and device
      • Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
      • For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
      • On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
  3. Paper Jam:
    • Solutions:
      • Turn off the printer
      • Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
      • Check for torn paper pieces
      • Restart the printer
  4. Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors):
    • Solution:
      • Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
      • Run Print Head Cleaning:
      • Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
      • Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
      • Ensure you’re using compatible paper
