Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Carefully remove the Canon PIXMA TS5170 from its packaging and discard any protective materials.
- Open the front cover and insert the ink cartridges into their designated slots until they click securely into place.
- Adjust the paper tray to fit your preferred paper size (e.g., A4, letter) and load the paper into the tray.
- Connect the power cord to the printer and plug it into a power outlet. Press the power button to turn it on.

Canon TS5170 setup on Windows
- Driver Installation:

- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
- Connection Setup:
- Wireless Setup:
- On the printer, navigate to Menu > Settings > LAN Settings > Wireless LAN Setup.
- Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Follow the instructions in the driver installer to complete the connection.
- USB Setup:
- Connect the printer to your Windows PC using a USB cable.
- Wireless Setup:
- Using the Printer:
- Printing: Open your document, select File > Print, and choose the TS5170.
- Scanning: Use the Canon IJ Scan Utility or Windows Fax and Scan.

- Driver Installation:
- Driver Download Links are on the bottom of the page.
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Add (+) and select the TS5170. If it doesn’t appear, ensure the driver is installed and retry.
- Connection Setup:
- Use the printer’s Wireless LAN Setup to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Alternatively, connect the printer to your Mac via USB.
- Using the Printer:
- Printing: Select the TS5170 in the print dialog box.
- Scanning: Use Image Capture or the Canon IJ Scan Utility.
Canon TS5170 setup on iPhone & iPad
- AirPrint Setup:
- Ensure the TS5170 and your iOS device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open a document or photo, tap Share > Print, and select the TS5170.
- Canon PRINT App:
- Download the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app from the App Store.
- Use the app for advanced features like scanning or photo printing.
- Wi-Fi Direct:
- If a Wi-Fi network is unavailable, enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer and connect your iOS device directly to the printer’s network.
Canon TS5170 setup on Android
- Canon PRINT App:
- Download the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app from the Google Play Store.
- Use the app to configure the printer, print documents or photos, and manage settings.
- Wi-Fi Direct:
- Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer and connect your Android device directly to its network.
- Printing:
- Use the Canon PRINT app or Android’s built-in printing feature under Settings > Connected Devices > Printing.
Canon TS5170 setup on Chromebook
- Direct Printing:
- Ensure the TS5170 and your Chromebook are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers > Add Printer on your Chromebook.
- Select the TS5170 from the list of available printers.
- Wi-Fi Direct:
- Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer and connect your Chromebook to the printer’s network.
- Printing:
- Open a document in Chrome or Google Docs, click Print, and select the TS5170.
