The Canon GX2020 is a high-performance all-in-one printer ideal for both home and office use. Unboxing & Initial Setup
- Take the printer out of the box.
- Take out all the accessories and remove the packaging.
- Remove and discard the protective tape from outside and inside.
- Connect the power cord to turn the printer on.
- Install the toner cartridges.
- Load paper into the paper trays.

Canon GX2020 setup on Windows
- Download the Setup Software:
- Driver Downloads are available in the Bottom of the page.
- Click on “Download” to obtain the setup file.
- Run the Setup File:
- Locate the downloaded file and double-click to run it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to begin the installation.
- Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi:
- When prompted, select “Wireless LAN Connection” as the connection method.
- Choose “Easy Wireless Connect” and follow the instructions to put the printer in setup mode.
- The software will detect the printer and prompt you to select your Wi-Fi network.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.
- Complete the Installation:
- Once connected, the software will install the necessary drivers.
- After installation, print a test page to confirm successful setup.
Canon GX2020 setup on macOS
- Download the Setup Software:
- Driver Downloads are available in the Bottom of the page.
- Click on “Download” to obtain the setup file for Mac.
- Run the Setup File:
- Locate the downloaded .dmg file and double-click to open it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to begin the installation.
- Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi:
- During installation, select “Wireless LAN Connection” as the connection method.
- Choose “Easy Wireless Connect” and follow the instructions to put the printer in setup mode.
- The software will detect the printer and prompt you to select your Wi-Fi network.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.
- Complete the Installation:
- Once connected, the software will install the necessary drivers.
- After installation, print a test page to confirm successful setup.
Canon GX2020 setup on iPhone & iPad
- Download the Canon PRINT App:
- Open the App Store on your iOS device.
- Search for “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY” and install the app.
- Prepare the Printer:
- Ensure the printer is powered on and in a ready state.
- Connect to the Printer:
- Open the Canon PRINT app.
- Tap “Add Printer” and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- The app will search for available printers; select your GX1090 from the list.
- Complete the Setup:
- Once connected, you can print photos and documents directly from your iOS device.
Canon GX2020 setup on Android
- Download the Canon PRINT App:
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
- Search for “Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY” and install the app.
- Prepare the Printer:
- Ensure the printer is powered on and in a ready state.
- Connect to the Printer:
- Open the Canon PRINT app.
- Tap “Add Printer” and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- The app will search for available printers; select your GX1090 from the list.
- Complete the Setup:
- Once connected, you can print photos and documents directly from your Android device.
Canon GX2020 setup on Chromebook
- Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi:
- Follow the instructions in the printer’s manual to connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
- Add the Printer to Chromebook:
- Click the status area (where your account picture appears) in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Click the settings icon (gear symbol).
- Scroll down and click on “Advanced.”
- Under “Printing,” click “Printers.”
- Click “Add Printer.”
- Your Chromebook will search for available printers; select your GX1090 from the list.
- Click “Add” to complete the setup.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Printer not connecting to wi-fi:
- Possible Causes: Incorrect password, weak, signal or outdated firmware.
- Solutions:
- Ensure your Wi-Fi password is correct
- Place the printer close to the router
- Re-run Easy Wireless Connect
- Press Setup >Wi-Fi Setup >Easy Wireless Connect
- Restart the router and printer
- Check for firmware updates via Canon’s official website
- Print Not Detected by computer or mobile:
- Solutions:
- Ensure both printer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network
- Restart your printer and device
- Reinstall the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (for mobile)
- For USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected
- On Windows/Mac, reinstall the printer driver
- Solutions:
- Paper Jam:

- Turn off the printer
- Gently remove jammed paper from the rear tray, output slot, or inside the printer
- Check for torn paper pieces
- Restart the printer
- Solutions:
- Poor Print Quality (Faded, Streaks, Missing Colors):
- Solution:
- Check ink levels and replace cartridges if needed
- Run Print Head Cleaning:
- Press Setup >Maintenance>Cleaning
- Perform Print Head Alignment via the same menu
- Ensure you’re using compatible paper
- Solution:
